Painting crash bars

Am hoping to get my engine bars and pannier rails powder coated in the new year. But just wondered what the finish would be like using a paint like hammerite or similar?

I did my suzuki earlier in the year
Rear pannier carrier and top box frame etc.
Came out really good in satin black
Better than the suzuki silver plus rust

Looking good. At least I think so, anyway.
£50 all in. Good quality finish with no runs or blemishes. Went on with no paint flaking off either.
Better finish than original. The original finish was rough inside the bends. These are smooth all the the way.

Just an opinion, but I think crash bars are a necessary? evil and painting them in a contrasting colour is a mistake, stick to satin finish black or silver. Halfords cans are ok as long as you're prepared to rub down and repaint annually, or every time you drop the bugger.

Well, to each his own.
I agree, they are an evil necessity. But why not make them look good?
I think the red bars against the white paintwork looks smart. It's actually more of a post box red in normal lighting. The camera makes them look a bit brighter than they are. Was getting favorable reactions when out for a run this afternoon.
If it hadn't had a little lie down last month, I probably wouldn't have bothered. There was some slight pitting on the original paintwork, but after five years use, it wasn't bad.
I should get at least the same from this paint job. Unless it has another lie down!
Don't think I could be arsed preparing and spraying every year. Plus, rattle cans aren't that cheap.
If it costs me a tenner per year and has a good finish, I think it's good value.
One thing I noticed when I removed them and had them in a box, there's some weight in a full set of bars.

I had mine powder coated at a small industrial enamelers. Cost was less than paint and finish is tougher.
