Sorry for my first, and probably not last, stupid question; but are pannier frames for a 1150GS different from a 1150GSA?

I ask 'cos I got the panniers, but no way of mounting them to my '03 1150GSA & occasionally see frames on this site and eBay and want to be sure what I'm buying.....

On a slightly different note, does anyone here use 'soft' luggage? If so, do you use a frame or just sling it over the rear seat?

See told you it was a stupid question

There are various pannier options from bmw & the aftermarket. Suspect you'll need to post up piccies of yer bike with mounts/frames and also the panniers u wish to fit. :thumb2

I ask 'cos I got the panniers,

What panniers ? metal or plastic, bmw do both.
Each have their own pannier frames and aren't interchangable between the plastic or metal bmw panniers

But both types of pannier frames can be fitted to either the standard 1100/1150GS or the 1150ADV.

The back end of the 1100/1150 and Adv subframe is the same,so they should all fit each other. But most panniers have different frames,so don't try to mix and match unless you're sure what you're buying.

Hi all, thanks for your help... I have some hard panniers that are home made - with the help of a mate who works with aluminium, the mountings are not yet fabricated as I don't have a frame, so I think I can make them fit any frame - as long as it sits outside the exhaust, I just wasn't sure if the mounting points were different on GS/GSA's the collective wisdom seems to suggest not.

I was asking about soft panniers, as I'm just about bored of the whole thing and wondered if a cheap out would be soft bags without frames???

Does that sorta make sense?

If you're looking for an off the shelf frames to mount your home mades on, then it would be worth looking at touratech or holan as their frames are off set to make space for the exhaust with a 37ltr / 45Ltr set up.

Before you take the plunge it's also worth considering running a stubby tailpipe off the cat if you still have it fitted. That way there's no need for the off set frames.

hi & good evening all, this is my first post on here and hope its not the last, ive just finished mounting a set of 1200gs frames on to my 1150gs adventure so i could run the bmw alloy style panniers look great with the top box fitted too, i know touratech do a set of frames for the 1150 but theyre expensive and the boxes sit right behind the pillions feet with not alot of room,

cheers rob....:flag

Hi Rob and welcome from another newbie. They seem a friendly bunch round here. Interesting that you got some 1200 frames on your 1150, good work.

I've managed to find some quite reasonably priced touratech frames in Germany that are, as we speak, on their way... So hopefully all sorted.

Thanks to one and all for the help.
