Just done my first mini tour (Reims) on the new GSA and all was well apart from:
The barrel of the top box fell out completely (Luckily I found it)
One of the locks on the side pannier will no longer accept the key (it goes in half way only). Again luckily the other side works so it wasn't the end of the world.
The Check Oil level light came on a few times although oil level was fine.
A tendency for the gears to crunch when changing from 1st to 2nd but only really when I wound off the power changing gear.
Other than that al was well but 2 out of 5 locks screwing up with a month is not good.
Any one else having the above problems?
Cheers!

The pannier locks fall out and mis-align only if the bottom-most (last) shim has not been inserted ... and because of that the yellow plastic retainer lock at the bottom of the lock is unable to hold the tumbler in place. Can you confirm that the locks do have the last Shim in place (see image below, image courtesy advrider.com. Red line added by me).

Thanks for your input. These locks are on the Aluminium panniers so no yellow plastic retainer but I think the principal is the same. And no there is no last shim - it must have fallen out and there was also a small bit with a spring lying on the floor but the spring was ruined.
Anyway I'll take it back to the dealer and ask them to fix both problems. (I can't get the key into the other lock)

Mike, as your GSA was itself a replacement for your shonky GS, dump it on the dealer's forecourt with clear instructions for them to fix it to your complete satisfaction. Gearbox, pannier locks, the whole nine yards.

If you have got any BMW Finance on it, refuse to make the next monthly payment. That will concentrate their minds a bit.

May just earn you a finance default and termination letter though:blast

Yup, that too. Which they'll withdraw when they hear that their dealership has offloaded another load of tat, for the second time.

Cash and money BMW understand, trust me. Just tell the dealership that you ain't going to make the payments and write to BMW UK HO in Bracknell, telling them so. It gets their attention very quickly. I know someone who did it with a car. The important thing is the letter. People ignore emails and phone calls. Letters are tactile things, people find them very hard to ignore.

Thanks for your words of wisdom Nasher. The locks were fixed this weekend with no fuss. The gearbox is slightly more worrying as I think the problem is getting worse. It didn't happen at all when the bike was new. Anyway I have done about 4,500 miles and it will be going in for the first service soon which is when I will raise the issue with them. So far Bahnstormer have been very good with their customer service so I will wait to see how they deal with it before I start to get heavy.
The worry with the gearbox is that if you change gear very purposefully and accelerate all is well. It is when you roll off the power as you change up casually that it grates. I can see someone testing it and saying "no Sir, I didn't have a problem - I suggest you change up purposefully at all times!".
