I have to admit with Den that all panniers look awful, the best being system cases and the Hepcko and Becker ones are not to bad. They are however very handy but for general use I would have a top box every time like a Givi Maxima. Alluminum panniers have caught on because alot of us are wanna be explorers, they almost utilise maximum space for the size with no nooks and crannies and they have the Touratech label on.
I have both types and my comments are:
- System cases hold hardly anything at all.
- The metal cases are more practical but need to be able to be easily
- removed by the owner only.
- Strong enough to sit on
- Have top lugs for tying things to and holding.
- Water proof.
- Lined to prevemnt everything getting covered in that dark grey alluminium oxide type stuff.
- iderally no hideous rack once removed
- sturdy locks
Hope this is of help.
