pannier racks / frames??

Hi guys & gals.
I've just picked up a 2001 R1150GS and I want some metal panniers for it. As I'm a struggling student I can afford to buy any so I'm gonna make some. But I cant make the racks. Do I have to get racks specific for the 1150 or do other models fit?
Thanks for your help. I've had a search on here but couldn't find anything.

Racks are usually bike-specific. If you are a student on a budget, then simply get soft luggages.

Hard panniers can be harmfull when falling off-road. Many have had their leg broken by hard panniers. Soft ones are prefered off-road.

If you are a "struggling student" then just stick on a set of BMW System Cases - the black "plastic" ones - standard on 1100/1150.
They do the job perfectly and are reasonably cheap second-hand.
I've had them on my 2001 1150GS from new - only change I've made over the years is I now use a stubby exhaust and use 2 full-size cases now.
