Hello All,

I've a 2003 1150gs Adventure, and I'm off round Britain in June for charity.

I've had the bike a while, but it came with no panniers. I'm looking at all options, obvioulsy BMW oe alu panniers would be best but at £900 for just the panniers............

My question is do the BMW system panniers fit an adventure as they come up on Ebay fairly regularily?

All other thoughts appreciated.

Many thanks :thumb2

Panniers come up for sale on this site very often,I'd suggest you follow this link and make a small donation and then you will be able to view the for sale and wanted section and have the facility to send sellers pm's (private messages) to discuss items for sale ;)

If you mean the black plastic type you may find there a bit on the small size and very hard to pack. Wot you need are a set of Hepco Becker panniers I have a set for sale PM or call me 07766527942 wayne

By "System Panniers" I assume you mean the hard black plastic ones - not the aluminium ones. If that's the case, I've got to agree with Wayne. I had a pair of system panniers fitted to my bike when I bought it, and took them on a trip before I had a chance to fit my Touratech (TT) panniers. Although the system panniers were better than I expected (I had very low expectations of them) I did find they didn't hold much and they were difficult to pack as the sides open outwards. TBH I can't imagine anyone using them for a long trip.

Besides the aluminium ones look a lot smarter. :D

If you're interested Redsprocket, there's a set just come for sale

Not 100% sure if they fit an Adventure, but I think they do. Best get it confirmed by somebody "in the know" though before committing yourself.

+1 for Hepcos' Easy to remove and easy to pack, stood up to biblical rain in south west France last year and are tough enough to put a huge dent in a car door in Paris without even getting a mark on em. My only problem with them is that the nearside one stands higher the offside. But, they're a quality bit of kit. :D

Oh, and the System Panniers will fit an ADV

Hi,

The answer to your question is, Yes the black system panniers do fit the adventure. You need the panniers and a rail for each.

I bought a new set for my adventure and had them fitted in 5 minutes, I think I paid £400 new but as you say loads appear on Ebay.

As others have said they are a bit small if you are on a full expedition but i've used mine for 1 or 2 weeks away with no probs. Have a look at my website and you will see loads of pics of my pannier setup.

Hello, well I'm going to run with the system panniers.

Brought a set through this site, and will run them for this year.

The cost difference is huge to any aluminium ones.

If I find these don't work out, I'll change for the more expensive option later.

This site helperd me out and 'sold' me the answer. How's that!!
