Parallel to the ground or to match the lines of the bike?

Or doesn't it really matter?

I'll be fitting some panniers to my frames soon (1200GS) so it's a fairly big decision.

The touratech catalogue shows the Zega fitting kit mounted neatly in the centre of the pannier so I was confused when I saw this..

just my opinion, but i think they generally look better following the seat line, or possibly better described at the frame rails supporting the seat.

re: your confusion about the pictured mounts. the frames go on in a fixed position. the positioning of the mounting pucks is variable according to taste if you don't get the pre mounted package.
panniers with mounts drilled for one bike, often don't sit nicely on another model.

I agree, having the pannier tops in line with the seat would help to support luggage lying across the pillion area.

Just been messing with photoshop. :augie Yup, seat line it is.
