Panniers Liners - anyone?

Are they waterproof to any degree?

I Just bought a 1200GSA and the exhaust side pannier lets in a little water in heavy rain, previous owner bent the locking catch causing a poor lid seal. Water 'puddles' in the bottom of the pannier. Maybe a new catch will fix it.

If so then at £80 or thereabouts I am interested. Silver colour would be nice. :thumb2

The 600Denier material has a rubberised internal layer that is basically waterproof, however you'd have to look at the stitching rather than the material.

The bottom of the bag also has a plastic correx material in as a stiffner and has feet taht lift the bag about 10mm from the base. So technically the bag does not touch the bottom.

I suppose I'd be happy to call it water-resistant. We are also looking at placing an additional 100% waterproof liner inside... but obviously it starts to have cost implications.

Hi GoosePilot, I would really be interested in a set at £80.00. Even better if they were in Black or silver.
Do you want a pm?

Fellow Tossers, please note that as per the very first post, the following statement was made:

"I'm trying to guage interest for the bags before I come over to the UK..... input would be appreciated?"

I have been using feedback from the ADVRider, UKGSer & Wilddog forum sites before starting a manufacturing run.
Main problem seems to be the colours of the bags, with 9 different colours being suggested.
My problem is that I ahve to order a minimum of 50 sets per colour from the suppliers............. which is going to make it an extremely expensive investment for me in the "hopes" that in the future I might sell all the bags.... as technically I'll be sitting with 450 sets - all in different colours?

I'm therefore going to limit the colours to 3 according to the majority votes that I have received - Black, Denim Blue & Silver/Grey.

Once these 3 prototype sets have ben completed, I would gladly send a set to the UK at my own cost for a selected Tosser to test and evaluate the quality, colour and durability. Once the said Tosser approves the bag design etc. - and any changes are effected, I'll be doing the first run of the bags.

Please let me know when they are available.

Croyden & Sidcup nice!

Glad it's not Pratt's Bottom................ :augie

I'd possibly be able to bring a couple of the bag sets over. Seems everuthing in SA has come to a standstil with the soccer....... :(

Would perhaps like to meet up with one or two of you to check and discuss the quality of the bags - as a reference as I'm always weary buying something I have never seen.........

If agreeable to quality etc. - I'll make sure I organise the import/export permit and ship quantity.

Will advise closer to leaving! :thumb

Got a friend and fellow ex-Tosser who's parents live in Pratts Bottom.

A bit of history (or something like it) ...
The Pratt family used to own lands within the valley and one part was called Pratt's Bottom (the bottom area).

Pratts Bottom is a village in the London Borough of Bromley, on the border with Kent. It nestles in the Green Belt, on the dip slope of the North Downs, and oozes with history. Often the butt of jokes, the village is named after the Pratt family who lived in the valley from the 14th century. Until the 1830s the village was on the toll road from London to Hastings and was the haunt of smugglers and highwaymen.
