So I nearly sold my Urban a few weeks back - I wanted to get a GSA for touring... mainly due to lack of decent luggage.
I had/have SW Motech Legends Gear bags fitted both sides (had to move the brackets on the bag a touch to clear the exhaust) and then thought, "surely I could work out how to fit aluminium panniers to the existing SW Motech SLC racks?"
So I got to work. I really liked the look of the GIVI Trekker Dolomiti aluminium panniers and they were only £450 or so. Then, SW Motech sell bag fixing brackets for their SLC racks separately, so I bought a pair ("SW Motech SYS Bag M Adapter Plate") and then a pair of the GIVI monokey bracket kits ("Givi E115F Monokey® Junction Kit") which I then measured out and fixed to the adapter plates.
End result? Givi Dolomiti panniers that I can clip to my SLC brackets
By happy coincidence, the pillion pegs sit exactly underneath the front corner of the panniers, adding extra support, so no worried there.
The only thing I need to do now is attach a metal loop to the adapter plates somehow so I can lock them to the bike when in use, but essentially it's worked like a charm!
