i bought my gs12 from a dealer in sunderland 3 months ago ,its an 05 reg,it didnt come with any luggage but does have the rails on the side,i tried always to do a deal to get at least the rack and top box thrown in ,now way he was having none of it .so if anyone has top box and rack or paniers at a reasonable price i would be more than willing to buy of them .
so if i were you if you can get them at the right price with the deal go for it.

Surely the OP is the only one who can answer the original question as it depends on his preference and his financial situation

My preference is to have OEM luggage at it suits the bike better imo.

My 3 BMW ali boxes came new with my 2006 GSA and have been swapped to my 2008 GSA and now onto my latest GS. So nearly 6 years old now, still looking good and should last another 6 years at least

Not sure whether they are any better or worse than the alternatives but very happy with them
