Panniers

Sorry if this is an old question.
I have a 2004 BMW 1150GSA. It has touratech asymmetric panniers. Can I use the existing set up with a Remus Ti exhaust? Are modifications needed?

If not. What systems (metal type panniers) work with that exhaust set up?

I can't see a reason why you'd need to change anything about the panniers. The OE can is normally a greater diameter (girth) than any after-market offering (not to mention 5x heavier! ), and if the Remus is still that odd oblate-oval shape then it will go in the gap with no issues.

FWIW, if you're keeping the catalyser box, I'd say save your money and just sort out an exhaust tip to put on the catalyser exit. Not much noisier, (quiet enough for MOT passes), and far easier access to the rear wheel.

Looking at the size of clothing coming up for sale on here the OEM exhaust being heavy is not really relevant . Losing 5-10kg in weight by the rider would make a much bigger difference than fitting a slightly lighter exhaust. Unless of course they just want to be louder and more annoying.

Fit a ‘Stubby’ and lose even more weight, does nothing about the tub of lard on the seat though.

If you want louder, fit a Remus or whatever open can.

If you want lighter - fit a stubby/tip to the catalyser - perfectly MOT friendly and only a small amount louder than stock. (Quieter than said Remus etc)

Yep, just more annoying to other road users.

Quieter than a standard R1200GSA TC can as well.
