Hi,

I would like some advice.

I brought some Sondersystem Panniers for an 1100GS - "hoping" they would fit my 1150GS Adv.

Well they do, sort of!

The exhaust angle differs on the bikes, which has meant a shove of the silencer up about quarter of an inch, currently supported by a bolt above the bracket. Intend to fix this at some point soon!

Question is this. Will any long term harm come to the exhaust through puttin pressure on the silencer - there is significant force at play here...

That's about it - I'm thinking of re-listing the items on e-bay again, buying the correct one's this time!

Any advice welcome...:)

Not sure I would leave it like that.

You could buy one of Bryn's excellent stubby pipes - recommended :thumb2

Or

Sell the sondersystem and buy a standard set of Zegas. I wouldn't have thought you would lose any money on that sort of deal :nenau

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between Sondersystem/standard?
Sonderset has the cut-out for the standard exhaust or an after-market one (there are different sets according to what can is fitted).

Sonderset allows two same sized panniers and fits closer to the bike.

If you have a standard exhaust 1100GS the set will fit the 1150GS with a standard exhaust. The same set is for both bikes.

I'm sure mine is a standard exhaust - no real proof in saying that, it just looks standard!

There seems to be a problem with the angle of the exhaust, it comes in at too shallow an angle and hits the bottom of the pannier rack.

Thinking of getting a stubby exhaust, that will solve the problem :clap:clap:clap

This is the Sonderset as fitted to an 1100 with a standard can.

This is the cut-out on the nearside pannier for Sonderset with a standard can.

The standard 1150GSA can looks like this from the underside.

Not the best photo but the standard can and pannier frame on my 1150GSA is visible here.

Thanks all for the advice.

In the end I made up a small bracket to raise up the exhaust a few mm.

I am going to get one of Bryn's Stubbys as well, I think it will look good and sound good!
