Paralever arm

Hi
has any one changed the paralever arm to a shorter one
the K1200 LT is 25 mm shorter can anyone see a problem
by doing this,I know this will make the bike taller i have no
problem with that.
The reason for the change is
have fitted Adv Ohlins front and rear shocks to a Std
gs now i know it should not make any difference but i
am getting a vibration from the drive shaft caused by
the increased angle on the rear wheel drive now if i
release the lever arm the drive wheel will drop.
Failing this i am going to have to stick with the std
BMW shocks which are rubbish
your imput would be greatful

I have no personal experience of the swap, but various suppliers sell adjustable length ones so it must be possible, and if it reduces that shaft angle then it can only do good really.

If you fit a shorter torque arm the angle of the rear UJ will be improved but the front one won't be changed at all so it may not improve your vibration problem. In fact, having the front and rear UJs at such different angles may not be a desirable situation - I believe the optimum setup is to have both UJs at a similar angle.

Having said that I fitted a GS torque arm to my 1100S (from memory the GS one was around 20mm shorter than the S one) to make it steer a bit quicker. Obviously that changed the rear UJ angle but not the front one and I didn't notice any problems, but then I didn't start off with a vibration problem or, it must be assumed, such an acute UJ angle as is found on the Adv.

doesnt it make the bike higher/lower depending on what length is usedand i think the drive adv shaft is diff to for for ever reason
