I have just had the paralever bearings replaced in my 05 1150adv by a BMW dealer at 21k. However when I perform the paralever test with and without the brake on a 100miles later I can still hear and feel a knock over the right side bearing. Is this normal or did they not do the job properly

Paralever test ?

My 2001 1150GS has done 70k and is still on the original bearings, can't say I've noticed any problems but what do you do to test the paralever bearings?:nenau

After new ones are fitted it takes approx 2 adjustments before thye can be left as they are. Just adjust it a little bit to take up the slack :thumb2

The right side isn't the adjuster side ( the left side is).

The rightside is tightened to a specific torque. Check it isn't coming undone.

Have they replaced them or just adjusted them? All the paralever bearings I've seen have had slots worn in them where the bearings have spent most of their time. If they have adjusted them on a tight spot you will still have the play.

You did well to get 21k out of them. Mine were knackered at 4k. It seems to be a problem at the factory, once they have been replaced they seem to last for years without a problem.

Both paralever bearings were replaced by dealer.
I have also checked that right side is tightened to 160Nm so should I take it back and ask to re tighten both sides again or have they kackered the r/s bearing when they did the change?

Are you sure it's just the right side ?? - do the simple thing first, tighten up the L/H side.

Then, and only then, if it's still loose do you need to start fretting.

Problem solved, both sides re tightened by dealer and R/H side bearing knock/click gone.
Thanks for help
