My recently purchased 1150gsa had significant play in the Paralever bearings, adjusted them today and seem smooth enough afterwards with no play. Quick ride and checked again and there is a very small amount of movement with brake applied.
Problem is that I'm off to Isle of Man and can't get new bearings before I go.
How critical is the play, will i get away with say 500 miles or is it a non starter?

Thanks

I arrived back from a 1000 mile road trip a couple of years ago with the paralever bearings so shot that I could hear the creaking when I went over speed bumps and feel the notchiness when I bounced the back of the bike by hand. Didn't affect things too badly in terms of riding. If it was me, I'd go for it - you're already planning to replace the bearings, so it doesn't matter if riding on them with some play damages them.

Just an experience, not an expert...

500 miles will be no probs I'm sure. I've had them so shot they literally fall appart when you take them out with their cages having been eroded. When you replace them, get the solid ones like the racing chicken ones cos they last forever. There is a man on here that can do you some a lot lot cheaper but I can't remember his name. I've fitted his and I reckon they'll outlast me:thumb
