OK folks here's some more mac questions:

I really would like to buy a macbook pro 17inch, it will probably have a 2.5Ghz processor and 4Gb RAM and an Nvidea 8600M GT (not sure of the RAM). Coming from Windows, my media apps are windows based (CS4), I'll be using it mainly for photo and HD video editing. I don't really want to buy new licenses for Mac native programs if I can help it.

Assuming I load XP (forget vista) into the boot camp partition and then run XP using Parallels, how much of a performance hit is there likely to be? Will I be able to run CS4 apps and Adobe Premiere without too much trouble, or is this kind of setup going to run like a dog?

I know that buying a MacPro would be the ideal but unfortunately it won't fit on my lap! Which are the best mac forums where I can ask similar and even more stoopid questions like this???

Having used parallels in the past I would avoid it, although it was an earlier version i had. I now use VMware much more stable and the mac will run the windoze much faster and smoother than a pc. You should be able to find the VMware online at your favourite pirate site......:augie

Using a very early version of parallels and running the same sorts of graphics apps with no problems at all. The 4GB Ram makes all the difference...

Got to say that the only stability issues I've had have been on start up and shut down of windows. Once it's running it's been fine. The only other issue I've had is with USB devices not being recognised by windows which I think has been sorted in later versions of parallels.

Forums - there are tons out there... like this google it and find somewhere you're happy with :)
