...anybody used these?

Mrs GL and I are off to a slightly chillier clime (Canada, Rockies & Alaska) in September for a couple of weeks (unfortunately not on the propped-up GS), but I still don't want to take loadsa clothing (as I'll be carrying the bulk).

Are these shirts really as good as their hype (cool one way in case of a heat-wave, heat retaining the other for up on the glaciers), or not?

Any observations, real life scenarios anyone would care to share with us, or even something that will do a better job?

And of course the best (cheapest) place to get them :thumb

Thanks in advance (and I suppose we'll have to see if we can meet up with any Canadian - North American Tossers whilst we're there, providing they want to meet us!!!)

One of my friends works for an outdoor clothing shop the biggest berghaus seller in NI... and he says the stuff is brilliant far better than gortex... raves about it.... he does a lot of hill walking and uses there stuff so i'd say it must be good for him to use it.

I don't think a shirt is quite enough if you're going somewhere very cold but it would help.... he's not back from a weeks walking until monday so i can't ask him until he's back :D

No, they don't work any better than a fleece, and secondly, thery are very cruel.

Just think. For each and every shirt, over 200 tiny defenceless paramos have to die.

I use these for mountaineering, mountain biking, skiing, biking and many other uses. They do exactly what they are suposed to do both warm or cool way round. I wear mine warm side in until about 15 degrees C then turn them inside out, but I run cold. They work infinately better than a fleece, and apparently no Paramos have to suffer to make them. So far I haven't found anything better. :thumb

After reading various reports (and with little feedback from this site), I decided to get a couple of theses shirts and if I remember I'll post a report when we get back (mind you if they're that good maybe I'll try them out for before we go to try and stay cool this summer!!!)
