Howdy guys
just a quick heads up for anyone that doesnt use Parcel Motel
well all ya do is pay the UK postage, have it sent to the PM address in NIreland and its dropped at your nearest PM locker in the south by Nightline couriers for the sum of €3.50,check out the link, its fairly well explained and stops us gettin crucified with postage charges,I use it all the time on ebay etc,be careful tho, when ya go over the size and weight the charges go way UP,(just thinkin, have I shot myself in the foot now and goin 2 miss out on all the bargains!)haha

Using them for a while now. Opens up more stuff on ebay that might not have been possible to non uk addresses. However when collecting last parcel I got I noticed another door open, checked just in case I had two parcels but it was for someone else. I guess the guy loading them up forgot to close the door but could have been nicked and not sure what comeback that guy would have had.

When a business is able to offer this service to so many people, and be able to do it cheaply and profitably, just shows how much we are being ripped off in Ireland with postage from the UK.

I have been using this since it started, a great service.

A young lad I know uses it to import his drugs.

When I saw those collection points first I did wonder why on earth anyone with a functioning postal address would want to use them, I thought they would be ideal for those wanting to import drugs etc. now I know better but still wonder what some might make of me when they see me use them, yeah is know, a touch paranoid.

I've being using them for ages, and the service is 100% :aidan. However Bill's point is very valid and highlights a grey area. Once you buy from the UK retailer, and it's signed for by PM / Nightline, the seller has no further liability for any loss / damage, as it's been signed for at your assigned delivery address. I'm not sure what Parcel Motel's liability would be if the item goes missing from receipt to the delivery point... I expect it's limited, but worth being aware ot it, if buying expensive items.
Still love the service, and a credit to them :) :)

This service has also worked great for me.
They even managed to find a missing package for me once that got lost in their depot over the Christmas. Well when I say got lost it did have the wrong name on it and a typo in the PMID! (fault of sender). It's a miracle that I got the item at all. Yet after a week or so of searching they found it. I was starting to have the conversation with them about being compensated for the loss but fortunatley it showed up before exploring this option.
Their customer service was excellent, they phoned me back as well as corresponding via email, even sending me photos of possible packages from their "yet to be united with their owners" area.
Cheers
Fran

competition started for Parcel Motel from fastway couriers, they use local shops as drop points, havent used it but it seems you pay in the shop when collecting, this looks to be in every town in the country,I have to travel 14 miles to my nearest PM,the closest parcel connect is at a filling station a mile away,Parcel Motel are very expensive if you have oversize parcels as I found out the hard way, from what I've read Parcel Connect allow bigger items,a guy on boards.ie said he got a 42" tv from the UK for €4.50,worth a try,no harm in competition for us.......
