Not quite sure where to post this one, but as I've a 1200 GS Adventure, thought I'd start here.....

I'm looking for images/photo's of the Paris Dakar bikes, specifically the Gauloise bikes :

This is the best photo I can find on the t'internet (thus far), and am looking for good quality pic's as I want to paint my GSA in this colour scheme....

Does anyone know where I might find 'em??

Many thanks in advance :thumb

Why would you want to paint your bike as a rolling advert for a cigarette company - unless, of course, they're going to pay you handsomely for the privilege......? :nenau

gates used to have an 1150 Gauloise paint job.

Many thanks for the more positive replies, think I've got plenty to work with now :thumb2

Hi notanotherbike,

Thanks for the PM.

My plans took to the back-burner last year - in part because I was mod'ing the GS a little, and also enjoying riding it far to much to take it off the road for the month it would have taken to strip it, paint & re-assemble.

The other reason I've held off painting it is because I'm planning to travel a little further afield this year - probably the Middle East. I am a little wary of turning up at a Border looking like a 'Dakar refugee - not sure how this might/might not be recieved.

As this year will be my first experience of border crossings I want to keep a slow a profile as possible :blagblah - I've still not given up on the idea though, and will post if I do go ahead with it.

Cheers,

GB

p.s. your 1150 looks spot-on, who painted it?

your 1150 looks spot-on, who painted it?

"Dream Machine" painted it for fellow members - Gates/Bilks :bow

It started life as an std R1150GS with a painted TT 41ltr tank & plastics, then the plastics & tank were sold to "Bilks" of this parish & put onto "his" R1150GSA - which is the bike i now own.

I've seen a few different BMW Gauloises in my years including mine & actually touched (nee stroked! :drool) the R900RR that was J.deacon's at Garmish.

Here's the R1200gs to give you an idea?, F800gs, R900RR & my R1150gsa at Reims... Cheers, Nab.

Looking at those pics I don't know how they'd do the paint scheme on the 1200GS as I can't imagine them painting the plastic 'fairing'?

The 1st pic on post no.11, is a 1200GS with painted panels

Here's another R1200GS MY 2004/2007, painted in a similar blue design, by the late German company Kuhn. Perhaps useful.
