PARIS DAKAR PLAYBOY REPLICA 1979

I think it looks great – its certainly got potential for a good ISDT replica – not too sure on the Dakar claims though. The problem is how much it will cost to convert and fix. If you use someone like Andrew Sexton or Richie Moore I’d imagine you would be looking at a very large sum of money. Alternatively if you are a good mechanic and fancy a project it’s a bargain. Andrew Sexton was on the look out for a used ST or G\S project bike recently – I might give him a heads up – watch this space:)

But it's not an ST or G/S, but a hacked about series 7 of which there are loads and loads for sale.

True but an ST or G/S will be at least twice the price - if you can find one:nenau ISDT replica would look great IMO

It's an ex-police bike.

Not sure if you are being serious or if this is a wind-up?

It is many things but it is certainly not "a bargain".

I would love to see the look on Andrew Sexton or Richie Moores face if you turned up with this turd and asked them to convert it into a ISDT replica.

This bike is a POS old police bike worth about £500 in standard form. However, it has been totally fecked about to make it far worse than standard. The front forks are ridiculous and make it look like an easy rider chopper, I bet the handling is "interesting". The paint job is now bubbling through. The seat is a total abortion.

Best thing would be to break it for spares.

I still can't believe your post is serious, was it?

All of what he said.

Did you post this to try and stop others out-bidding you? :D

F uck off Trippy...:trippy:trippy:trippy

I've broken better ones than that and I don't break many BMW airheads ;;;:comfort

IMHO it's a complete pile of POOOOOOOO :(

Urm if you put a 100 mm swing arm extension on it and bought sycos spare Body work and tank you could pass it off as a Camile replica :hide

Definately a worth while project if you can get it for the right price. Still too high at the moment me thinks.

Gentlemen Gentlemen Please! :rob With out meaning to offend.

An ambitious starting price and a naive description. Don't necessarily make it a pile of ****

Yes the seat is a poor copy of a single seat probably being a cut down and then rather badly covered duleseat. Which suggests the bike was not straight from the police auctions befor being converted.

The forks are XT600 in milled out BM yokes. Quite a tidy job. Though one of the seals is weeping.

The engine runs ok and the bike moves when put in gear.

The tyres are old and should be replaced.

The brakes will need stripping and rebuliding.

The tank is crazing a little but that's no big deal, it aint rusty inside or out either ans certainly not bubbling.

The swing arm needs to be lengthened to bring the back end up to leval. Though you could get away with longer shocks. But this would leave it with a tucked under rear wheel and probably too much angle on the drive shaft. Alternetively you swap the forks back the original type and convert it into a bobber or the like.

Bearing in mind the bike has not been on the road since 2003, but has been started on a regular basis. Probably about once a year. It ain't in a poor state at all.

If I had a few spare sheckles it would be in the trailer along side Jills 100 when we come to the WeeKend.

I do agree though it is still priced a bit rich. But I'll be suprised if it still doesn't sell. As we all know there are some out there that will pay too much for anything :nenau

HTH Val.

Ahhh So you went to look at it :D
Make him a cheeky offer then :augie:augie

When I looked he had it up at 1500. When I mentioned that if it had MOT and Tax it might/maybe make it's price he droped the price to 1450 :blast

Before relisting he text me to ask if I'd make him a sensible offer. I said he would do better to relist it with a 500 start and a video of it running.

He's a nice guy, though thinks it's worth much more than is realistic, hence his 750 price now :nenau

Mades my 4K mile 1992 R100GS with two brand new tyres look cheap at £2700 when i put it up for sale 3 years ago.

You are slating MY BMW - I now prefer KTM to BMW's!

Hello all - I am the owner of the BMW R80 g/s replika!

I have been told that a group of sad lonely men have had nothing better to do than slate others peoples bikes - I must admit that VAL H pretending to be a buyer to see the bike to make fun is a bit low and juvenile. Come on you guys are suppose to be men and not children sending the paperboy to pose as a potential buyer is immature. I must admit you guys are good at realising that the bike is not standard - full marks! I suppose if a standard bike had a non standard sticker, then you'll criticize that too! I assume that you all own brand new 1200GS at £10K+ a shot - well lucky you - some people can not afford such luxury and have to make do with older non standard bikes which we have had to moth ball due to financial and family reasons! I suppose the weekly gang trip is to Poole - how sad! I suppose really I should be thanking you as if my bike was a new 1200GS then it would not cause so much stir. Go and make love to your bikes, sorry mean polish them! oh i forgot you are all sad single men wearing anoraks! Thanks to your posting, i have decided not to buy BMW and invest in Yamaha as they have a more friendly following. Have a nice life!

Being as I was one who stated I don't like your bike, I'll admit that some of mine are not in tip top condition..
Not Loaded, I'm Working class[retired] and proud of it, dragged up in Walsall..:thumb2

Wrong on many counts, but most here know a bit about GS's and clearly you don't:blast

That is not a GS or a BMW Dakar replica in any shape or form...it's a road BMW with a set of Yam forks

Never mind, it'll sell on Ebay................plenty of idiots on there
