Park Lane, SLM or Vines of Guildford?

SLM

My mate Alaric runs SLM. They're on a mission to give the best service in the industry, and are working incredibly hard to do that. My little brother just bought an 800gs from him and is delighted with the whole service. I have no experience of Vines or Park Lane, but don't expect park lane are exactly bikers like other dealers? Bet most of their sales are to Euan wannabees and bonus fuelled ****ers. (sorry, meant bankers)

SLM for me every time.

Yes, all BMW Dealers but all totally different types of business with different types of clientèle.

Some want to stick around and drink coffee others want to throw the keys in, pay a bill and ride off.

easy

i have experienced all three (buying bikes and service) - Vines and SLM very good - i would not send my worst enemy to Park Lane

Well I've done it

Thanks for all the advice. To be honest, I got a really bad feel from Park Lane from the minute I walked in. I was greeted with arrogance and attitude from a youngster that seemed like he was on the verge of calling me "pops" at any minute (OK - I'm probably old enough to be his dad but that's not the point) ......he was just a little too casual for a salesman trying to sell me £8k worth of bike.

When I said I'd be paying cash he looked even more sceptical - I got this sort of eye's rolled back "timewaster" look from him .......hmmmmmmm.

So when I got back to the good folks at SLM and had a nice bit of banter over the price and ended up with a cracking deal, I happily pulled out my debit card and paid for the thing in full before the price increase kicked in (1st August base price went up by over £200 quid) and I couldn't help thinking that I wish the twerp from Park Lane could have stood there to watch a real salesman earn his comission .......

Perhaps BMW should read this forum and make a few changes at Park Lane, or maybe they're also just too darn arrogant!!

Anyways - I pick up the bike on the 14th August (I'm on holiday at the minute) and I look forward to a long and lively time with SLM.

Thanks again for all the advice from all.

Less of the little you old fart.

+ 10 for SLM (and Graham in particular!!)

I picked up my new F800GS yesterday and have to big up SLM as a result!

When I struck the deal, we had a "gentleman's agreement" that they would see if they could sort out some slightly more off-road biased tyres for me as I want to get dirty asap. The Battlewings just wouldn't cut it of road so I was facing a bill for some decent knobblies pretty soon (not really wanting to get my hopes up too high on a gentleman's agreement).

Graham worked some magic and the bike was shod with spanking new TKC 80's!!:JB

I hope this post doesn't get him in trouble now with everyone else wanting the same thing (sorry Graham ) but what great surprise and talk about exceeding customer expectations!!

I took the long way home and am not expecting the grin to fade for a very looong time:clap
