Does anyone know if this LED lamp (501/ W5W on eBay) will fit and without the "lamp" failure indicator complaining? . The only reason for replaceing is that I have fitted some HID's (Colebatch) , and I would like all the lamps the colour .

Hard to say, but I am guessing that it will unless you add a resistor to the circuit?

Because the LED has very little current draw, the CanBus system could suspect that the bulb has blown?

But because (and unlike the stop/tail bulb the side light bulb) it is such a low current draw anyway, it may well not affect it.

Get your hand under the light pod and pull the wires, feels like it does not want to move but it will

Tried some just like yesterday and the Canbus came on, got some more coming on Wednesday they don't have resistors and are just a standard bulb but were made to match the 50+ blue halogen bulbs so going to see if they are a bit better than the stock bulb.

Hi Les, when you say that the Canbus came on do you mean that the light failure warning came on, or that the Canbus came on Ok without any warnings/errors ? How did those new ones work out ?

I think, irrespective of the Canbus warning problem, you'll find that the LED Lamps 'blow' due to the heat of the main/dip - I think that this will be irrespective of whether you are on Halogens or HID's for the Main/Dip.

I run an LED for the parking light ... for the same reason Chris ... to match the headlight colour. I have a permanent warning "LAMPF" on indicating one of the front lamps has blown.

None has of course, its just the tiny current that the LED requires confuses the system. You would be able to add a resistor to the circuit to simulate using up 5 watts, but I have not gotten around to that myself

iv got 50 HID, and led pilot, for over 2 years, never blown?
