I'm looking to find out what would be the expected part ex value of my April 2015 GSA TE in white with 3200 miles and a full dealer service history, when trading it against a new one. It came with the pro shift and I will be keeping the set of boxes and Nav for my new one :) Its immaculate, garaged and not at all abused.... I paid cash for it and so there are no finance issues to worry about. If you've any tips on negotiating a deal on a new one then even better. The only extra I will order will be the pro shift again and I will stick with white... it comes in around £16300 OTR.
Thanks...

Oooo, interesting question. Mine's the same age at late April 2015, but clearly has been hideously abused at 18500 miles, though in mitigation has a new engine, shaft and bevel box just 2000 miles ago. ;-)

Why would you want to part exchange for a new one when yours has only done 3200miles.....just sayin

I imagine that it'll be worth about £11000 as a p x. No kidding these depreciate like nothing else. A very expensive toy if you only do that mileage.

That's what I was thinking. OP, if it bothers you, whack a private plate on it, extend the warranty, and stick some miles on it.:thumb

If you're going for a different colour/ spec, it's worth changing, but going for an identical bike to what you have, but a bit newer, what's the point?

Agreed . I've had my GSA nearly 3 years and it's not a high mileage bike, my T Max is my day in day out bike.
I would wait until the new GSA comes out in 2018 or so. Use your current bike a bit more enjoy it , you've paid for it:thumby:

Don't focus

On the part ex price

Just the balance to change... How much you need to add

Great time of year to buy .. Some great deals around if registered this year :thumb2

I'm in the process of trading in my bike so this might help.

March 2014 R1200GS TE Alpine White
6,200 miles
BMW alarm
BMW engine bars
Aux lights
Full BMW service history
Mudslinger etc
Touratech hand guards
Full vario luggage
Out of warranty

£10k px. Book value was £9.2. Good deal on a triple black gsa.

Part of the reason I'm trading is because I don't like the white, ha. With the white bike and white Schuberth helmet I feel like a police man.

Happy with £10k as I paid £9,750 three weeks ago.

Andy (The Buyer) is right. It's the price to change that is all that matters. :thumb2

I had a very competitive price to change (2014 GSA TE) considering the abuse mine has had. Currently about to change one of my other bikes so the GSA negotiations are on the back burner. :D

What ever they offer you, shop around other dealers for the best price to change. Get them to honor the "deal" if you sell your bike.

Then stick your bike up for sale privately if you sell it happy days if not you have the "deal"

I sold mine for £1050 more than the trade in offer, and still got a new unregistered 16 model Alpine TE with GSAP, Keyless, Cross Spokes, and Alarm for £13500 about a month ago.

Ohhh and take off as many of the extras you can, they don't add the value to the bike that you will have to fork out again for your new bike.

Last year when my immaculate 64 plate (sept 2014) gsa TE was just turned 12 months old with 6700 miles max I was offered was £9000 ..............that was on a £15,400 plus bike

I got offered £12.5k against a pre reg triple black very happy with that.

How can a bike with 3400 miles have a full service history? Like what? It's crazy. JJH

What was the bike/mileage etc?

Thanks for the replies guys.... I'm looking to go down the PCP route over 2 yrs and then keep changing every 2 yrs. Mileage is low due to operations I've had on my hands and knees :(
I can therefore supply the deposit out of my trade in, have some sovs in the bank and in future not worry about the bike being out of warranty and pricey service costs etc.
I could of course keep mine, pay for the next service, extend the warranty etc.
I'm open to advice and what you'd do but I'm mindful of some reliability issues in the longer term.... apparently?

Don't know about the rest of you but I think it's shocking what the dealers want to buy these used bikes for compared with what they resell them for, I know they have to make a profit but
the mark-up on used bikes is massive.
I think it's a fact that the dealers make most of their money from buying and selling used stock and from their service departments !
A bit like estate agents keeping the market prices over inflated for their own greed.
cheers
