Part Exchange: 1150GS Adv / 1200GS Adv

Instead of blowing £1K on ohlins, get someone like k tech or mct to rebuild your original ones, they can fit weight relevant springs for 2 up + luggage and it cost around £400 all in to get done.

Personalise your bike, for the £600 left, second hand y piece and end box, 1200 injectors and off to hilltop, and you've got a better bike for the price of a pair of ohlins stickers !

I have an old 2003 model I kept, also progressed through GS & GSA to currently a 2014 WC GS, in my opinion they keep getting better & better to ride, although the quality seems to be lacking, they need more attention to detail re corrosion, but still for me the best all round bike to own.
The old models seem clunky/old fashioned & am less likely to ride now..

Having just bought an 07 1200gs my initial impressions are of discomfort despite a sargent seat.I much prefer the riding position on my 1150.I don't like being pressed up against the fuel tank. The 1150 feels more relaxed.

If I get too old to deal with the 1150 weight I'd buy a tracer900 or similar. Alternatively I'd look at a streetglide for something different, but not much would be as good as the 1150 at doing everything with as much character.

Horses for courses, do whatever feels right. Modern hot hatches are technically better than an old 205 1.9GTI, but the 205 is the one I'd choose. Basic is somethimes more fun.
