This is the # for retrofitting 08'model handguards on R12GS models that were produced between March 2004 and October 2007.

You might need this number. Either you want to get rid of the flawed ones, or you need them because none of the parts of the flawed ones is available at the dealer (banned).

They look cheap and nasty compared to the earlier ones, and they look less likely to withstand the odd "falling over" moment
As I am a grown up,and capable of noticing if my handguards are out of alignment or resting on the clutch/brake lever I'll stick with the originals-but thanks anyway;)

:eek:But,......but you have to watch out for a flashing red light an' everything!!

Ps I call bullshit...banned? :nono

Replaced with another part.

They are banned at official BMW-dealers since at least April 2008!

The replacement isn't available yet, your dealers won't find Part No. 71 60 7 705 265 on their CD!

Replacement took them alt least 4 months.

Is it true that a German judge described you as waging a internet terror campaign against BMW Alex?

Part No. Part No. 71 60 7 705 265 is about 86 ₤.

Keep you informed.

And from about five days ago...

The new guards (October 2007-) do not fit on the old R12GS. Period. :augie

Mind you i did try and tell you that there was a kit....

But you stuck to your guns....

Buy "the kit". And try to mount them. And tell us about your experience! :augie

Be sure and post a review when you've fitted them won't you:rolleyes:

The information from st247 makes him look ridiculous.

The "kit" he was talking about dosn't fit. Part No. is different.

The "kit" I am talking about is brand new! Part No. 71 60 7 705 265!

What is the point in bullshitting GS-owners?:(

:jes

Got an '04 (1200GS) from new.. 41,000 miles now, dropped "her" the normal number of times..

..original handgaurds...

What was the question?

:D

Part numbers aside someone had already fitted 08 guards to an earlier bike - fact!

If you've tried and failed to fit those, please let me know why they didn't fit.

The fact that you stated they DO NOT fit makes you look a bit of an arse.

And just by way of a recommendation Which handguards do you have fitted to YOUR GS?

I'm sorry. But these handguards are not properly designed. That's a fact. I don't ride no handguards so I have taken responsibility.

But now you have the opportunity.

Part No. 71 60 7 705 265, only 86 ₤!

Gotta love the health and safety nazis.

"in the event of inappropriate handling" your handguard may move. Big fecking whoop-de-doo. I've yet to come across a handguard that won't move under some circumstances.

Alex, was your first name Adolf in a former life?
