Password problem

I'm quite prepared to be called a PC plonker but this little problem has me puzzled. Last used the main house PC to look at UKGSer before going to work this morning; no problems.
Came home this evening to find that I can't access any site requiring a password, including this one !
I can access them no problem from the boys wireless laptop, but not from the PC.
It's running Firefox and has been doing so without fault for 2 years. Any suggestions gratefully accepted ?

Alternatively, it could well be an update......what AV and firewall software are you using?
Check the settings in case it's automatically updated and has set cookies and passwords to some default 'off' setting

EDIT...and what browser? Does it do the same in IE7 if you use Firefox and vice versa? That'll tell us if it's a browser prob at least

... ginger twatish one but all seems to be well. It was happening both with IE7 and Firefox and I spent an hour turning on/off and fiddling about with permissions etc.
Eventually I turned it off and left it for a while and it seems to have sorted itself out
