Just used paypal to recieve payment of £225 for a item sold on ukgser and they have charged me £7.85 to transfer the payment to my UK bank account is this right ? :nenau

I have only used it in the past to buy things ...what would the charge be if i sold a £6000 bike and buyer made payment with Pay pal ?thinking of sell my bike on ebay ...

Paypal does not levy a charge to send money but will charge you 3.4% (if I remember correctly) to receive money via your paypal account. For large amounts I normally ask for a cheque - its cheaper.

Thanks for that i should have read the small print :D

I am also new to paypal as I have only ever sent money. How much do they charge if you receive money in sterling and want it it in euros.

Paypal does not charge the person sending the money, but charges you to recieve it...

AFAIK its 3% + 20p....

For example... I get a paypal payment of £23 for one of my stubbys.. I actually get £22.02

It'll be the same in whatever currency you want I'd imagine..

Also to transfer the dosh to my bank account is free over £50 or a 25p charge if the transfer sum is £49.99 or less

Paypal charged me £11 because my brother sent me £300.

I guess they have lots of overheads to cover:augie

If i buy something un US dollars, then when i pay, its converted at a rate 1.9 something, then the seller receives the money in dollars, then they are deducted the fees from what they receive. :aidan

I recently bought something from Ireland in Euros via paypal. I wasn't too impressed with the exchange rate used. There again, it was more attractive than the alternatives.

Once you've got it in your paypal account though it is free to transfer to your bank account.

Paypal link to fees

You didn't expect it to be free, did you...............:augie

Merchant service charges apply:blast
