Paying extra for Racing Matt Blue???

Don't buy blue it looks like a triumph ! & it won't be suitable for off road !

You're right though.............others will follow, easy way for the manufacturer to make another £100 out of punters
If you order a car with solid paint, it's included. If you order a car with metallic paint, it's an extra. BMW has just realised that they can charge for this on their motorcycles, and people will pay for it.
Other bike manufacturers will follow suite, and charge for metallic paint, you'll see.
Saying that, my dealer tried to charge me for the metallic finish on mine, and I refused to pay the difference, as it was included when I ordered the bike.
The car dealers have always charged a bit more for metallic/ pearl paints without justification in my view as there is little difference in cost, but in the last few years they have come up with some new finishes like the matt effects ( pretty much a dead duck now )candy colours and tri coat effects which gives them another opportunity to hit their customers with another supplement
So it was only a matter of time before the bike manufacturers followed suit.
Bmw motorrad taking a leaf out of bmw car dept sales book of the 1980's, if you want a radio it is an extra , if you don't want one then you will need a radio blanking plate that will be an extra as well.
Worth every penny 
I have been told if you want the new Ducati Multistrada in white it is £500 extra for the fancy white paint.
I can understand that if it's a 3 stage white pearl as it's a much more complicated paint colour to apply.
However the matt blue finish on the LC GSA isn't any more difficult or expensive to apply than the white finish that they don't charge for ........
Up to a point I agree with you, but the material costs of painting a set of bike panels as we both know are negligible, it's a technicians skill you pay for, Bmw will no doubt source their paint a lot cheaper than you and I would.
Some of the supplements charged seem a tad on the high side to me, as an example Ford will charge an extra £725 for Candy blue on a Fiesta, in my paint system it's a simple two stage painting process and costs no more in material than a normal metallic finish would, however folk are happy to pay as it's a "special" colour.
