Im looking @ a gps but want some advice on which one to go for please.
Im actually after 1 that will do gps, speed camera detection, play mp3,s & films for the kids in the car I will use it on the bike but I will keep it in the tankbag so any idea,s recomendations?

Or am I being a silly Ive no idea what each one can & cant do also where from?

Try the 02 mini xDA S which is also a phone. Put Tomtom on it and off you go. Approx £80 on contract which is a bargain in my book.

I used to use a Orange C500 with tom tom, worked well, but screen a little small, im currently setting up a MDA compact the same screen is about 30% bigger.

Looks to be the answer and seeing as it was free from T Mobile cant go wrong.
:D

Ditto Malc's request, I want the pda option as well and would appreciate more user comments on which one to go for, or some pro's - cons to watch out for as I am a TI numpty ( see.... I can't even spell IT)

Occasional use for GPS (mainly the last 100 metres so postcode location is important), moderate use for a pda (diary, spreadsheets and word basics, note pad and write functions and a big screen). I have a company phone and sing to myself so these functions are nicies not needies.

'Ow about you Malc, any specs you need to consider?

Steve

i have one of these; acer n30 bluetooth gps.

housed in one of these; otterbox

mounted with one of these; ram mount

i mainly use the pda for navigation, but i can also get connected to the internet through my bluetooth phone and surf the net and email too.

I use the Garmin iQue 3600 with the enclosed Touratech mount. Works great. I was leaning towards the otterbox as a waterproof enclosure, but couldn't get power to the unit. With the TT mount I can power the unit and run the headphone jack to the autocom so I can hear directions or the MP3s that are playing.

Decisions, decisions...

I quite fancy one of the Medion PDA's with the built in GPS antenna bobble as opposed to the flip up type... It comes with UK street level maps and Euro street level maps on CD... so get a bigger memory card and hay presto... Spain here I come?

Halford have been advertising them at £200, in their 50% off range... offer ends this Sunday though!

www.medionshop.co.uk (I think that's the right address) is also listing them as £200.

I suspect that it's an outgoing model as they have a similar unit with flip out antenna at about £270...

Anyone know anything specific about using a Medion PDA100... might try to buy one after work tomorrow :mmmm

A Garmin 2730 will do everything you asked for, and on top of all that, it's waterproof. It has exactly the same size and shape as the 26xx, which has been well proven on motorcycles. If you get a Garmin 7200, it has a bigger screen for the kids to watch the movies on, but it is not waterproof.

Both also pick up the Royal Motor Club TMC (traffic message channel) broadcasts, which means you get live, dynamic re-routing around traffic jams.

Wonderful GPSRs, I used both on my moto this past summer. Ain't cheap, though.

Sold out!!!

Can't believe it, all four of my local Halford's have sold out of the Medion PDA100...

Nobodies said anything bad about them... so either no one's got one, or there's nowt wrong with them?

Gonna get one sent from manufacturer, hopefully qithin 5 days delivery... nice little Chrissi Prezzie for me... :D

i'm going this route to. writing on my pda this moment. Research the pda first - the acer n30 is crap spec - you need a 400mhz cpu else you will have routing problems.

i bought a new hp3715 on adtrader.co.uk for 120 quid! its got everything on it and 152mb built in. forget ebay if you want a pda bargain, check adtrader. next you need a bluetooth gps 4 about 50quid, though i've bought a 30quid ipaq none bluetooth one of ebay.
