I was in the Peak District last weekend, looks like evenings are the time to go. Despite poor weather we found it extremely congested and on Saturday gave up after a couple of Hours and abandoned riding and came home early on Sunday.

My mate lives on the edge of the district and is lucky enough to be able to pop out off-season when the weather is good, but reckons summertime is a nightmare with slow moving tourists everywhere.

A real shame as the roads and scenery are pretty decent.

It does depend where and when you go. If you are in the Southern Peak Distrcit around the hot spots of Matlock, Bakewell and Chatsworth you will get caught up in all the tourist traffic. Equally the main biking hot spots such as the cat and fiddle road but it's not hard to avoid those places and find solace in the quieter spots to the South East, Western or Northern parts of the Peaks. I took my photos on Sunday at 3pm and as you can see there was hardly a soul about :thumb

Just fabulous...I love the 'Peaks' and always treat myself to a day or two down there every summer.

Wouldn't it be nice if some kind soul would slap all these lovely places, into a Garmin GPS file......:augie

I tried........:D

Great pics :thumb2

Me and my mate are going up in a couple of weeks for a weekend ride about.
Might use some of those places to check out.
