Me and my missus spent Mon, Tues and Weds of this week up in the Peak District. Thought I'd post some pics and say a public THANK YOU to Ian (MrIFan) who met us on the Monday evening and subsequently led us on a 132 mile tour of the area on Tuesday. Good to meet Gavin Bell and once again thanks to him for lending Jill a lowered set of rear pegs.

We started off by visiting the Derwent Dam, this is where 617 Squadron practiced for the raids on the Möhne, Eder and Sorpe dams. Not a brilliant picture but the weather wasn't at its best.

Next stop was Snake Pass. This is approximately 1700 ft above sea level and it was bleak to say the least. Ian standing in the foreground whilst Jill attempts to make sure she's looking her best using a rain covered mirror!!

Then the weather cleared up and we found ourselves on some great roads and it was at this point I persuaded Jill to try taking some pics while we were on the move. I think she did well.

I haven't uploaded the track fromt the Quest yet so I'm not sure exactly where these roads and places are, I'm sure if anyone's interested Ian will be able to tell you.

We stopped for a spot of lunch and took in this spectacular view.

After lunch we carried on and Ian took us through a narrow tunnel which passsed under a large hill. Jill insisted we go through again just so she could get a photo, exhaust notes were excellent!!

Then on to a Ford, not the deepest but very slippery as it runs over cobbles. This is Ian making his way through.

Ian and I having crossed the Ford.

Back to more open roads again.

Then our progress was hindered slightly by this lorry load of shite!! Smelt it before we saw it :D

We had another short stop and Ian showed us how to park a GS - Peak District style

Soon after this we passed through the grounds of Chatsworth House.

As the sun began to set we headed back to our B&B.

Didn't get any pics in the pub that night but suffice to say the beer was good and the company even better.

Thanks again Ian :thumb

Good pics though I don't believe any of them are actually of you riding cos the speedo doesn't show anything above 70 :D

I've had it recalibrated:dabone

Looks like a good trip Steve, your pillion was useful too! :D

Phil

She's really come in to her own lately, I'm thinking of taking her out again :thumb

I must stop taking for granted what we lucky people have round here - excellent roads! With Snake and Woodhead pass(es) a mere 5 minutes away I guess its time to take my bike out for a damn good thrashing

What was it called where you stopped for lunch with the view?, have been there but forgot where it was.
Grandtrousers is right, I live on the doorstep and never go. :o

Les,
Sorry but Ian PM'd me earlier with the name and place and I've feking deleted the message, maybe he'll see your question and give you the answer.
Cheers
Steve

PS: If you and Grandtrousers are on top of all this superb scenery and roads but dont use it then you should immeadiately exchange houses with us, we'd make good use of it all :thumb

I could tell you but have decided to start doing guided tours of the non touristy areas of the Peak. Pm me for a ( very reasonably priced :D ) bespoke tour and if you specify this location you will know where it is......

Or you could just look on the map for Monsal Head :thumb

Nice pic of Monsall Head.If you look at the top of the pic and there is a grey line......nice trail that one.
I do a lot of green laning in the area and must say it's always nice to stop at Monsall Head for the scenery.

I know Monsal Head, but not the narrow tunnel.

Please tell me where it is, as i have a new Remus can that needs testing!! :clap
