Gents, I recently aquired a gspd and would like to lower the pegs but keep the rubbers as will mostly be road riding, are there any recommended systems for this?

Regards

Hi mate, have found a pair of what look like migsel lowered foot pegs in the spares box so will give them a go and see how I get on!

Touratech used to do the lowering kit (drops peg by about 1") - might be worth giving them a call to see if they have any kicking about.

I lowered Jills quit easily (short legged people need lower pegs too you know :rob).

I just cut them off where the peg meets the pivot. Welded in a plate and then put the peg back on lower down. That was six years ago and they are still fine. Bike used both on and off road. Cost, almost nothing and didn't need modified gear leaver.

Just to update this thread, I tried an extension piece onto the original pegs and it looked shite, so I got a pair of migsel's and added a couple of extension plates, after fitting I adjusted the gear lever and brake pedal lower and find the riding position so much better.

The width and angle of the GS peg is quite common , so there are quite a few alternatives around, you just have to re drill the pivot pin position and bodge, sorry, grind the curve at the end.

It helps if your your local dirt bike shop has a few in blister packs hanging on the wall , but from memory I ended up with a pair intended for a Yamaha YZ , cost less than 10 quid and about 25 mm lower, probably as much as you want if you like to change gear and brake with your foot still on the peg.

We must have different shaped legs - my gear change is almost 3" below the footpeg, yours is 1" above.
Works OK for me with with my Gaerne explorer winter boots but the gear change is still a bit high for my summer Alpinstars.

Sorry , should have clarified, my pic was taken before I had adjusted the gear lever down!!, now it's fine for changing gear with my foot on the peg.
