Petrol

Filled my K1200RS with cheap fuel (by mistake) in Europe last year (less than 95 octane I assume) - ran like a pig. Stalled at some traffic lights and vibrated at motorway speeds!

I think it was in Germany IIRC, near the Nurburgring.

Same here. Topped up in Garmisch and was awful on the way up the Stelvio. Tank of full fat, and all was fine again.

Can’t even get above 95 in Ireland anymore. They all stopped selling it at the forecourts.
I remember buying 102 octane in Munich a couple of times - not for the bike mind.

The higher octane isn’t always of benefit even when recommended.

We have that plank that's in charge of the Green party to thank for that...........when they shared power.

Circle K and Applegreen are now offering a 95 with additives (probably octane booster) and a Diesel with additives (cetane) and marketing them as the power/performance option.

When I'm touring in France / Europe, I try to use 98 octane if it's available, bike runs better and seems to get better mileage per tank. Only because trhere is not that much a price difference than in the UK..

I don’t think the petrol companies were too bothered fighting it as the demand was so low as everyone was putting the cheapest possible petrol in as so few of the cars needed it.
I just checked the blurb for both apple green and circle k, while the diesel gets cetane all the petrol gets is an extra squirt of cleaner :(

I got some 102 octane in Munich a few times not on the bike mind! But I do treat the bike to 98 when away
