Yesterday on way to the Black Rose rally

Did you meet the man who owns the horse shoe door - apparently he's there to greet a lot of folks & is right taken with the idea of bikers taking photos of his shed.
Did not meet him myself but he had a long chat with a friend; he did observe that some are in a huge hurry and don't appear to have time for an old chat.
Be taking your time out there folks - like the slow food movement we could have the slow photo rally thing.
Next it will be organic motorcycles - well they are already biodegradable; forget your pipe & slippers move on to muesli & sandals.
Could be something here folks - might even get PJ on board

I don't think luck had much to do with it... It had more to do with me parking on a downward sloping gravel hill I'd say! Got my first scratch out of the way anyhow..

Ok. My turn...
Ok my turn... I had got the old girl VRTd, Insured and taxed, and had a couple of days to myself so off I went. Planned to take it relatively easy and bag about 9 of the points in a circular-ish route from Mullingar. So off I went:
Set off from home at 9.30 on Weds 19th May.
First stop: No 13 Fanning Memorial.
Second stop: No 16 Loughmore Castle.
Third stop: No 17 Crash Memorial, Lismore.
Fourth stop: No 18 Knockadoon Signal Tower.
This is where it went pear-shaped. As you can see I didn't get right to it. The picture is taken after I had dropped the bike, bruising ribs and my left shoulder,bashing my leg and (I found out the following night) breaking my right thumb too. It took quite a lot to pick her up - I was in some pain. Then she wouldn't run and I had to press the stock toolkit into action to get her going. Tank and airbox off, clear the carbs, put it all backtogether and away we went. At this point I thought about heading for home, but suspected that the mother of all bollockings would be waiting from SWMBO
, so I said nothing and carried on to my digs in Kilarney. I had intended to get to No 15 the Bardic School Sculpture too that afternoon, but I decided to run to Kilarney and take stock of an eventful day, and get some painkillers down me 
So after a good nights sleep, up early on Thursday and away!
First stop: No 19 Dun An Oir Memorial - God I love the Ring of Kerry - top road.
Second Stop: No 14 5 Pilots Monument
And may I recommend the N67 up the coast to Kinvara. What a road, oh what a road...
Third Stop: No 23 Windmill at Athleague
Fourth stop: No 7 Ardagh Clock Tower
All in all, a fun couple of days. 650 miles door to door. And about 400 of those with a broken thumb, bruised ribs, bruised shoulder and bashed knee... Loved every moment...
Final stop of the tour? A&E in Mullingar...

Mind yerself on the Offaly one. Coming from the Borris-in-Ossary side the road is in shit - had a few slides on the gravel. Lovely from the Mountrath ride though.
Couldn't believe the difference in roads to the monument on the Laois side compared to the Offaly side - can biffo not send a few quid down to do up the road? Laois side is like a motorway compared to it's shitty neighbour....
