Sunday 22nd (day 3)
An easy run out from Carrigallon to Point 7 Ardagh Clock – this place is too picturesque to be real – is it the first set of Disney Ireland?

P1010439.JPG

Up to the hilltop of Point 23 the windmill near Athleague. What an inhospitably exposed and windswept place to build a windmill – oh yes, that’s what you need for a …
P1010445.JPG

Point 20 Ballycurrin Lighthouse, Lough Corrib. An interesting set of steps up to get a shot of the bike framed by the lighthouse doorway – I was particularly impressed by the broken handrail just at the most crucial point.

P1010460.JPG

The Deauvilles had been thoroughly tested by the lane to the lighthouse or so we thought but then we went to -
Point 24 Cregg Mast – Deauville – the stealth adventure bike!

P8220484.JPG

What a road – what a view. We stayed too long and had to make a speedy descent as the cloud cover came down on us. We finally reached our overnight stop in Galway at 22.30 after a truly memorable days biking.

Monday 23rd (day 4)
Started the day with a great breakfast from Anne, the perfect hostess. When we arrived last night Anne discovered that there were three of us where she had been expecting only two. The obvious solution – she helped us drink all her wine then moved out for the night and came back to make us breakfast.
Galway to Kilkee, home of the aptly named Hell of the West triathlon and then on to point 14 Five Pilots Memorial, at Loop Head
P8230487.JPG

or this view?
P8230491.JPG

Then to Kilimer for the ferry and time to lube the chain on the GS ( note only Helen can multitask).
P8230492.JPG

Very nearly got to point 19 but the roads between Tralee and Dingle were so good we did them twice and then we got sidetracked by the charms of Tom Creen’s pub, the South Pole Inn near Dingle. Another day, another non-plan, oh yes!
P8230495.JPG

tuesday 24th day 5
Some lovely roads from Annascaul to point 19 Dun an Oir Memorial near Slea Head.
P8240501.JPG
Then we just couldn’t resist a circuit of Slea Head.
P8240507.JPG
Followed by a trip over the Connor Pass on the way to point 15 the Bardic School Sculpture in Broadford.
P8240511.JPG
Another interesting gravel access road followed by some good grazing for the trusty steeds at Point 18 Knockadoon Signal Tower near Ballymacoda ( that 650GS is just finding this all far too easy).
P8240520.JPG
Finished the day in the authentic time warp surroundings of the Devonshire Arms in Tallow.

lol frank did take the real pic too did that at wicklow just to stress the kerryman :thumb2 - stood here at this minute about to go to dundalk
