Wednesday 25th (day 6)
Interesting road up to the Vee – so interesting it wore through the bottom of my coffee mug wedged into my topbox, hmmm, messy.
Point 17 Air Crash Memorial on the Vee



Even more interesting road down from the Vee – single track tarmac with endless hairpins, and on to Point 11 North Slob Pump House near Wexford



Point 12 St Mullins ecclesiastical site near Borris (got reprimanded by caretaker for being disrespectful – didn’t mean it – honest). Point 12 photo censored.

Arrived a bit late in Kilkenny and very glad to get rooms and private parking at Troysgate Guesthouse.

Thursday 26th (day 7 part 1)
A short delay in Kilkenny while Paul had (another) mid life crisis and had his ear pierced and then on to Point 16 Loughmore Castle in Tipperary. Couldn’t really get too close – how do you take an interesting photo of a gate?

Point 13 Fanning memorial in the Glendine Gap on the border of Laois and Offaly. We took the sensible route through Laois to get there but couldn’t resist checking out the Offaly route to leave. So, that’s my back done in then.

Thursday 26th (day 7 part 2)

A slowish and mildly painful ride to Point 9 Horseshoe door near Rathangan.



My back was now really sore so Paul and Helen went on to Wicklow to find a B&B and I followed at my own pace. I only let them out of my sight for a couple of hours but Paul still managed to drop his Honda in the middle of Wicklow. That’s Paul, the one who’s under doctor’s orders not to take any risks on a bike. No broken bones so we just didn’t talk about it. I’ve had a puncture, Paul’s come off, wonder what Helen will do to her GS?

Friday 27th (day 8)
Left the excellent Drom Ard B&B in Wicklow (www.dromardbandb.com - highly recommended). No problem only four points to do today and we’re home.
We managed to second guess the gps to get to Point 10 Old Lighthouse on Wicklow Head – a bit tired - photography going seriously downhill.



Point 8 Stone Boat south of Dundalk – really running out of imagination for the photos now but at least the Penal Cross will be interesting.



NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 650GS could no longer suffer the indignity of travelling round Ireland with two Deauvilles and threw its teddy in the corner – total electrical failure.



22 out of 24 – first attempt at the Photo Rally but definitely not the last – a brilliant concept. A big thank you to the organisers.

Cruiser of this parish and I left bright and early this morning to snap another few pics.
A short bimble down to Wickla to to start us off at point no. 10

After seeing a few fishies,


We adjourned to Kehoe's Pub in Kilmore quay for lunch.

Suitably refreshed, we set off for point no.18 in Cork. We had a good laugh at the state of the road, track,field etc

Next it was off to point no.17 in Waterford via The Vee- a cracking road.

However, there was a slight mishap in the carpark

A motorway blast home rounded off a great day. We were lucky to avoid most of the showers and clocked up 650 km.

We set off on Wednesday to do a few more. The rain as we left was hammering down, but luckily it only lasted a while.




We stopped here for tea.

We stayed in Dingle for the night. A good meal, and a laugh over a few pints.
Set out early the next morning for loop head, via the Conor pass and the Tarbert Ferry. Weather was terrible again but it cleared up quickly.

A spot of lunch in Milltown Malbay and eventually ended up here.




Whoever the sadist is, that picked out this place , Thank you. We laughed our heads off when we reached it.

Another good meal and pints in Clifden.
Friday was bloody cold all day but at least it was dry. We met a local on The Sky road.

Yeah at last I'm finished, we only managed 21 last year. Geraldine still has three left in the south but she'll knock them out on the Killarney weekend.
