Picked up my present to myself today:D
First impressions after my 1200 rt.
First 5 miles,Oh dear what have i done, very cold breeze now hitting my nuts:eek:remedy new leathers without vents.
Hate new indicator switch.remedy tape up my right thumb.
Speedo not as large and clear as RT,remedy ignore it.

Next 70 miles.
Smile now getting bigger:D:D.
Oh so nimble after RT and just wants to go.Cant wait till i can give it some revs.
Love the engine,i am going to enjoy this, just need to sort out topbox, tankbag options and i think rad guards will be a must.

I got one of those in my garage...... Nice innit ?

As regards the rad guards. I got the 2013 Wunderlich ones, and had to cut/trim them to get them to lie flat against the plastic shroud that holds them in place............. Just a thought......

Well done , rode an rt once , never again , gs the best , plus I like cold balls , makes you a real man not hiding behind a green house fairing
Must admitt agree with the indicator bit tho :thumby:

Nice looking GS! I like the cast wheels too, wish mine had 'em.

350 miles on mine last weekend. I knew what to expect as I had so many demo rides. I do think the 2014 gearbox is better than the demo bikes, I do wonder if the engine has the new extra damper of the GSA.
One thing I found on the demo and just infuriates me on my bike is the speedo. You are more likely to loose your licence speeding at 36 in a 30 zone than at 160mph yet the division between 30 and 40 is tiny and varies with how tall you are. Its not an easy speedo to use, the rev counter which is ultimately no use at all takes centre stage, in my opinion the whole speedo assembly and info panel is a bit naff compared to the really usefull F800gs assembly. My basic speed shows less information than the F800 as it cannot show spot fuel consumption. I live in fear of clearing snow and frost off that expanse of plastic screen, if it scratches as easily as the F800 it will not last long. Is there a screen protector available?

Do you have the Nav V? If so, I find that I use the speedo on that instead. As an option, you can have just one HUGE speedo displayed on the Nav if you're in a built up area with lots of cameras, and need to keep an eye on the speed. You shouldn't have to, but it's an option.

Re the plastic screen, cut some Ventureshield out, and stick it on.:thumb

Have none of you guys just set the dash computer just to read mph in the lower section ????

Been doing that since I got mine , nice big digital readout :nenau

+1. Needed a Computer Science degree to set it, but now on permanent display. I have to use the Satnav display when I go abroad to get kmph .....

Thats what I did from the off - cant read the analogue one !

Basic model, altering the display is not an option.
Not fitted with the sat nav. I use an older Garmin model which cannot show speed while displaying the maps.

Thought with all the testing and experience at BMW a little thing like this could not be a problem. 0/10 for the display in my opinion, I like the rest of the bike so far.

Yep same as on my basic - tend to use my Zumo 550 as my main speedo.

Changing KPH to MPH in digital screen

Hi,
Has anyone got instructions on how to do this. I just can't fathom it out.
Cheers,
Scorpioted.
