Picking Up and Running In this Weekend

Well, after ordering in February and lurking around this site for the past few months reading everything I can on the 12GS, I finally get my hands on mine on Friday morning in Melbourne.

I have planned about 1500 km around Victoria to run it in before having it serviced and bringing it back here to Tasmania on the ferry on Monday evening.

So if you see a red 12GS on the Great Ocean Road on Friday or through central Victoria on Saturday or around Albury on Sunday or on the Spirit of Tasmania on Monday evening it will most probably be me experiencing what others on this site have raved about since the 12 was released.

Hopefully I will not be parked at the side of the road somewhere waiting for BMW assist, but it seems even those GS'ers who face that prospect still come back happy.

Some Photos

Well I am yet another convert! After 4 days and over 1600 km I can now see why everyone raves about this bike.

Apart from a little rain and the start of winter with some below freezing temperatures, I have had the best time running in my bike (red, black, black).

I have posted some photos to show some of the scenery we have here in southern Australia.

Day 1

At the dealers - shiny and new.

At the end of the first 50 km - pretty boring country side, but the best is too come!

Start of the Great Ocean Road - a couple of hundred km right along the coast - fantastic!!

Day 2 - Away from the coast and inland to the Murray River through ever chaning scenery. A chance to enjoy the 12's cruising abilities after a day full of corners!!

Day 3 - Back to Melbourne for its first service - 300 km of strictly controlled dual carriageway that all looks like this!!

On the boat and back to Tassie last night. No photos of the final stage as I had work appointments so was able to take advantage of the 12's effortless cruising abilities.

All up a great way to run in a new bike. I can now start to enjoy the 12 on our wonderful roads down here on the apple isle.
