Got on boat saw lots of tosser sized people but not an awful lot of GS's which surprised me. there were 2 Guzzi Norge's, one of which had a puncture, so it must have been the owners club tour !

Obligatory sunrise picture

Got off boat late due to circumstances beyond the operators control we were the last bikes off as we were lucky enough ( early ) to have been first on.

It was dark in Spain Passport control was laughable ! a bloke ran down the long line of bikes pointing at passports and waving us off. Excellent.

to cut this short hit the motorway and blasted to Ribbedealla for the night passing all the bikes that had got away in front and probably pissing them all off Found a bar drank beer went to bed

I want to live here and spend all my money on petrol and tyres

Things i have learned today

Spanish cows shit mainly on the apex of corners

Spanish horses like to gather in groups in the road usually just round a corner oh and shit in the road

The roads in the Picos are certainly the best I have ever ridden

And the cows all have long sharp, sticky-out horns and seem to enjoy staring you out when you are trying to encourage them to move out of the way.

I only had one skittish moment on hitting cowshit on an apex though!

But definately biker nirvana

Two weeks and I will be there hopefully someone will clear their shit up by then :D

wonkey , as well as the "higher" roads ( you can see the red stripey snow poles in the pic above)
Do try the "old" coast roads too.
N-623, A-262, A 263, ( avoiding the motorway - new A8 E70)

Very very twisty, good surfaces largely free of hazards, no traffic, and a great alternative view to the mountains.
Have a great trip.

2nd picture - our weather at this spot on Sat 1st Oct was not this good

Dry but bloody low cloud and fog

I have returned !

What a great trip

To finish off with a bit of a ride report as doing it "live" didn't really work mainly due to being knackered and lack of decent internet

as you may be aware we left darkest Oakham last Tuesday and headed to the boat at Portsmouth no drama and a bit boring.

endured the boat ( its quite a nice boat) and were the very last off when we got to Santander. there must have been at least a hundred bikes.

Passport control and immigration was brilliant ! All the bikes were lined up and shouted at to get our passports out and a man ran along the line pretending to look at them. We were off !

Motorway to our hotel in Ribedesella and we passed all the other bikes ! The hotel Derili sella hidden away and empty other than us which was good. its a clean and decent place and well worth using.

So into the Picos on the N 634 via a place called harrys honda. What a good road that is to warm you up for the day

Many of you have been before and know how good the roads are so I won't drone on about it except to say fucking hell how bloody fantastic and brilliant blah blah

The road from Potes to Rianne had some timed closures so we had to sit around until it opened at 1400 by which tome there were dozens of other bikes mainly foreign johnnies. (funnily didn't see many British bikes )

Once opened it became a bit of a race to Rianne and the only ones who put up any sort of a fight were 3 Italian blokes on RTs and a GSXr but the XR and the KTM dispatched with relative ease !
