Just got back from a week in the Picos via Santander and I have to say it was fantastic! We stayed at a little place called Arenas de Cabrales in the Hotel Torrecerredo. Hotel was simple and straightforward but clean, tidy and friendly. From where we stayed we were able to do a number of routes with a variety of surfaces but generaly on tarmac as the other eight bikes crossed the spectrum from a Guzzi to a Mille Factory! The hotel had a map showing 4x4 tracks I would have liked to try... Next time! Evening meals were cheap and cheerful in the village. Good value filling local food.

I have done three separate biking holidays this summer to Kerry, to the Italian Alpine and Dolomite passes and to the Picos. Over 4,000 miles in Europe (we cheated and took a ferry to Santander!) Of the three, the Picos one gets the prize as the most enjoyable for roads, scenery and traffic.

I've been and come back.Weather forecast shite in Picos so I went south.
