Think of the earths crust as the skin on a deep bowl of rice pudding, which is still on the stove on a low simmer.
You can push it (the skin) around a bit and it will ripple and deform. That’s how mountains are formed and basins subside.
If you push it too much, it’ll tear and you’ll get the hot rice pudding from underneath coming through, sometimes as little burps of hot gooey goodness. That’s the volcano.
Drop in a blob of jam and you’ll get a simple and then the jam will melt into the pudding underneath. That’s the asteroid.

Yup the Dope did miss the turning. Too engrossed in the views from the big car park where he was meant to take a right turn. Bugger…..Shame the dope missed the turning for the bear as he promised me he’d take his €35000 WankPanzer off-road on a grass bank to get a pic like this

So now on with the report….
Day 3 Riding. From Picos to the small village of Mues
Again an amazing brekky at the Oso and went to pay the bill. Hold on your hats lads…2 nights, 2 dinners with 2 bottle of wine, tax and brekky…….€135 per night
Amazing prices. Not even that in France let alone back in fekkin UK…
Anyway headed back down to Potes and then northeast and east. Temperature was only 10 degrees when we left but soon back up to mid 20’s and upon arrival again 36 degrees!
Not too many photos but after the amazing climb out of the mountains and views back towards Los Picos the scenery changed to much more open and arid countryside. Some great long sweepers and some straights. Then heading north in the hills of the Rioja region and the Basque Country. Miles upon miles of vineyards and our route took us into the foothills so great views into the valley with huge wine fields. And loads of huge Bodegas selling as well as some big names. Final destination the small village of Mues with an absolutely gem of a hotel. Old building huge thick stone walls to keep it cool beautiful modern rooms and a kitchen that opens at 1830
Hotel is called the Hotel Rein de Ane in Meus. I would highly recommend this place. A bit out of the way but simply gorgeous.
Anyway. Some photos of the mirador looking back at Picos and some great road pics. Will put some of the village and hotel up later

Dinner done. Great Spanish cheese selection as sharing plate then minute steak and fries, topped up with a nice Rioja and a big bucket G&T that you would have been proud of outside afterwards.
In bed now and getting ready for tomorrows trip to CanFranc Station although can’t afford to stay in the renovated station at €340 a night so staying at a Spa hotel up the road. Probably mosey over and get an overpriced G&T at the Station hotel Bar…

Do you mean this one? This is where we stayed, a little bit corporate but acceptable, nice rooms and good breakfast but forgettable.

Yup. Rooms fine. CanFranc Station busy with tourists.
Day 4 Riding Mues to CanFranc Station
So after brekky we left a bit later around 1000 & temp was already up mid 20’s.
Heading south and then a big loop around to CanFranc station. 300km in all. Again varying landscapes. Some amazing long sweepers through almost desert like areas and then into the forests. One road was in terrible condition and it was almost like being off road for 12 km. Others tarmac was great. A couple of drink stops and arrival at 1630. Indeed we are lodging in the above place. It’s fine but not a patch on the renovated station hotel which we are going to explore. Might try and get my drone up tomorrow morning when the crowds have gone but I might get a billocking if I do. Let’s see. Dinner in the hotel. Walk around the station
