I have found an engineer who can make pillion foot rest lowering kits for the 1190. (I've actually found him through 'Jim Aimes' KTM dealership in Essex ... ).

The lowering kits will be anodised in either black or orange and are about £70. Not sure about you blokes, but Rosy this end says her knees are just a bit too high and that a couple of inches will make all the difference ... ()

He has a batch of ten to make, and is happy to add to the order ...

Here's a copy of his latest email to me and his email address.

Hi Giles,

I don't forget things! well work related things anyway. Yes any custom is good, I have a guy from Australia that would like a set...

I had a visit to Jim Aims this weekend past, they have sold my prototype set in their wisdom so i have none to look over and double check. I do remember them having a slight clash with the standard exhaust guard (plastic cover), however, Alastair informs me that they do not clash with aftermarket exhaust guards.

On the later models they have a different guard which may or may not help the situation...

They will be anodised, as a consumer would you prefer black or orange? In my opinion sometimes the orange can be a bit too much.

As for price i would ESTIMATE £70 per set, this is depending upon anodising and lazer etching cost.

I wrote a brief ride report on the 1190 a couple of years ago and it was the pillion position that quashed the sale. Seems like you have a solution, but I seem to recall the position of the big exhaust is an issue, so can't wait to see your result.

I'll post pics when they arrive ... :thumb2

Very interested to see the pictures Giles :)

I've a set of adjustable pegs that came off my old Griso which look like they fit, I just need to confirm. Also, Mikeyboy has offered to machine up some new brackets for me so looks like plenty of options!

Oh, Grinning, there is loads of room for lowering with an aftermarket silencer. It's only the standard one that (may) cause an issue.

While I think about it I'm also looking to get some 10mm spacers machined up in order to raise the pillion handles - I reckon that, combined with an extra 10-15mm on the pegs will be perfect.

Brad told me to check out his face book account for pics, (but I don't do FB so haven't seen any). If you email him, he'll put you in the right direction ....
I've seen some pics (group email) of some other engineering bits he's done and his work looks like Ktm factory stuff! Not shoddy at all ..!

i believe the 2015 bikes have lowered grab handles. i think some have complained that the earlier ones dig into passengers thighs.

Here you go Giles, off the FB page - look to be really well made; 10mm lower and 40mm forward.

Seems quite a lot to move forward though, I'll be interested to see if you and Rosie's feet clash (especially when changing gear)?

Yup, especially if the pillion's arse/thighs are...............er...............ample ;)

I thought I'd see if raising the handles a wee bit helped (lowering would be way more complicated).

Ooooo they look good!

Hi
Have had these for some time and they are really good, other half very happy. Highly recommended.
Sit above Arrow exhaust and with 2 up feet are ok.
Cheers

So Jasper ... Did you get them through Jim Aimes? I sort of google searched, saw a forum reply somewhere and that led me to phone Jim Aimes who told me a local engineer and made a set for one of his customers (is that you !!?)

Hi Giles
Yes that was me. Have used for about 8 months. Wife much happier on back. Fitted Ergo seat for comfort and Arrow as its the narrowest exhaust i could find to make sure it cleared the rear pegs. Alistaire at Jim Aim had them made up.
cheers

Also just to elaborate the J Aim brackets drop pegs by 25mm, which makes all the difference !

Ok Jasper - well thanks for getting the ball rolling !!

Giles hi
A thousand apologies, I spoke in haste, have just checked, and the drop is 50mm.
Congrats on your new bike, don't think you will regret it. Having come from a air cooled GS its so much more fun to ride, and having sorted out the odd niggle absolutely loving it.
Did the Alps , including Stelvio, and a couple of 500 mile a day stints, last year, and it took everything in its stride. A keeper I think !
have fun.

Hi Jasper - I'm confused....... are yours the same as the ones in the posted picture as Brad at Technical Edge claims they drop by 10mm and forward by 40mm.

And..........what's the connection between Bradley at Tech Edge and Jim Aimes?

It's me age you know! :D

Anyway, FWIW I've ordered a set from Brad so glad to hear your better half likes them (assuming they are the same?) :)

Hi
I think he is confused !!!!! Can't see any point in dropping by 10mm and forward by 40 ?!.
Speak to Alistaire at Jim Aim. He is really helpful. They do look similar to above but the ones I fitted have a drop of around 50mm and probably come forward about 10mm .
Hope this helps.
Ian

Hi
Sorry for delay.
Alastair at Jim Aim had a local engineer to make me up a set, as I said they were a needed modification. Mine are pretty similar to above, but am a little confused by their description as they have a drop of 10mm and forward by 40mm !! Mine have a drop of 50mm and come forward by about 10mm.
Don't know if this helps or not !?

Latest batch of Brad's brackets about to go to the anodisers - hopefully ready next week.

And Ian, yes they defo go forward by 40mm and drop by 10mm.
