Remove the pillion seat and the rack, fit the luggage plate and attach the top box immediately behind the rider's seat.

I think thats quite interesting.. what plate do you need?

Might be wrong but in case of a crash would that not snap your backbone or get you trapped under the bike...............

That makes getting on and off the bike a pain. Though I did once modify the rear seat of a Speed Triple and mounted a rack on it.

Soft Bag option

I use this bag on the pillion area , works great and does not affect the bike at all and holds loads .Also it will not hang on to you in the event of a spill.

Yep must agree if I had something on pillion it would need to be like that at least, or a roll bag.

I went with this and then strapped a Kreiga US10 to it. Works great and can be swapped to the pillion seat in no time.

Done similar which allows both the seat to be used and also with the moded part with the plastic shroud .Both operated by the key , simple switch over . Fit a Kreiga 10 perfect for all the bits on a local ride . Better than the small ali boxes people fit which look a bit lunch box and also worries me about catching hold of you in a spill.The smaller picture shows the adaptor plate for the soft BMW large bag I use when solo , it fits on it with no sideways movement ( sculpted to the underside recess shape of the bag moulding) and straps down , there is also access to the space underneath the seat area for extra bits , hi viz etc. Top right pic shows the plate with bag fitted .
