Just purchased a replacement visor for my Schubert C2 with a prefitted Pinlock.

I rode to work this morning, there seems a big drop in vision quality through the Pinlock. Opposing traffic's head lights were surronded by a strong halo effect and the whole visual quality is slightly fogged. I am really disappointed, not sure I can live with it.
Maybe I got a dud Pinlock insert.

Whats other people's experience with Pinlock.
 
I love um, but I did have a problem with one once, I had to clean it gently with fairy liquid and dry it with kitchen roll then it was ok.

Oh and a friend (honest) of mine thought they were crap until he removed the protective film off the one side :D:D
 
pinlock is great for day time use...........becareful how u handle it, cos they mark real easy.......for night time they aint so good, with the lights take gettin use to..........i just use a defog spray on the inside of my visor in the winter, so i don't need a pinlock.....its a case of love em or hate em..............
 
I'm not impressed with mine. Had it in my Tour X for two weeks and she fogs up around the bottom half of the visor within ten minutes:spitfire The only difference with the pinlock is that it doesn't seem to clear like it would without the pinlock when you raise the visor. Not impressed! I washed it last night and it started fogging this morning within 400 yards... bollocks!
 
got the pinlock in my shoei and find it great in the rain and cold days never fogs up, not so good in the dark as glare from headlights is worse than without.

Sounds like its not adjusted properly... the pins are elliptical in shape and if you rotate them with a small screwdriver, you make the Pinlock press tighter on the visor, this stops it from fogging or letting rain in :thumb2

Been using them for years, wouldn't be without it:bounce1

I have a newish system 5 with a pinlock fitted and I don't think its as good as the fog cities that I have been using for years! Night vision is not as good and water gets between the pinlock and visor very easily, leading to misting.As said in a previous post the tension on the pins can be altered but as I found to my cost the pins break easily! Only do this at home folks not at the side of the road because an iffy pinlock is still miles better than no pin lock at all! In France in October my pinlock misted halfway up, cafe stop, dismantle, clean and hot air dry what a pain.:blastThe fog city sticks on with adhesive and can be a sod to fit but I can wash the visor under the tap with no problem, no misting and still good after 30,000+ miles. Both need to be handled carefully to avoid scratching. I will probably change the pinlock to a fog city with the pinlock cut outs inthe near future.:thumb2
 
Key to using the pinlock system correctly is never ever to open your visor in mist or rain or any moisture at all really... EVER haha.

And as previosly noted, ensure its a really tight seal against the visor. I dont use any washing up liquid or rub on stuff, i just ensure that the inside of the visor and pinlock is immaculate with a good clean cloth. Thats all there is too it really. You acclimatise to the "double glazing" effect of the headlights if you ride more :) Ive found the shoei ones to be the best.:rob

I've used them on my Shoei's with no bother at all - they are are just fantastic compared to not ever going down that route.

I bought a C2 about 2 years ago and like everyone else had the anti-misting film on the inside peel within 100 miles. Crap. 2 Weeks ago I ordered the C2 visor with Pinlock already fitted from the usual German site and thought it was just a 250 mile wet/cold ride last Sunday the visor was almost A1 including 90 mins back in the dark on the A34/M3 with lots of traffic/lights. I had a tiny bit of misting in one corner between the visor and the pinlock meaning there was moisture in there when it was fitted and is easily fixed by reseating.

Have you removed the protective film covering the insert? I kid you not that a work colleague rode around for 3 days looking through the pinlock and the removable protective film :D

I actually done it for three weeks after getting a new yellow one. Felt like a bit of a tosser to be honest. Great improvement though!
 
I've got 2 Pinlocks for my Arai, one on my clear visor, the other on my dark visor. The one on the dark visor is great, the one on my clear visor mists.

For my money, the Fog City insert on SWMBO's Shark is the best option and is wht I'll be fitting to my Arai too!
 
Got one in my arai, great thing! never ever steams up in any weather..
Just like everybody says, make sure it's clean and sealed all the way round..
 
hi, just took delivery of Arai Tour-x 3 with pinlock system. After the last trip to ferry at Plymouth, then on into Brittany, I was unable to see where I was going half the time, so I've bought this Arai, hoping its going to work. You lot don't seem to have much confidence in the pinlock system, so #I'll let you know how it worked when I return to England in December. Fingers crossed. Its good to be part of UKGS'ers. Happy riding
 
Where'd you get a Pinlock-fitted C2 shield? I can't find one on this side of the Atlantic and wouldn't mind getting my hands on one. I'm not particularly pleased with the FogCities insert I've been using, but had a smashing good time with the pinlock in my Multitec.

Not cheap mind you, but that's a function of general C2 prices and the weak Euro
