Pinlock

Bohdan,

I got mine from these guys in Germany - http://www.zsf.info/

Not cheap mind you, but that's a function of general C2 prices and the weak Euro

Ops, I mean weak £ :toungincheek

I got found a mate who wanted one too so we could split the postage charges. Cheap they aint.

Bohdan, I'm off to the US next Fri and if I'd known in advance would have picked you one up, carried it over and posted it for you. Anyway, maybe next year if you need anything brougth that way. Its unusual because I'm always bring stuff back the other way!

That's awfully generous of you, Daz! No worries, though. If I decide to get one, I've got a couple of other ways to get it to me if they won't ship to the States.

Have a safe journey!

Just fitted a shoei one to my C2, will let you know how I get on but drilling a 5mm hole through a visor is definatley cringe worthy:eek:

Anyone had problems with a schuberth S1Pro and pinlock? mine mists up within 10mins. ive tried adjusting the pins but no difference!!!!!

I know the S1 has a good seal round the neck etc but is very dissapointing, i had a sys5 before this with pinlock and was the best thing i ever bought...... never misted up:blast

Just took a CBT out and in the 2hours never misted up once, it takes some getting used to looking through the smaller aperture and don't think it'll stay in all the time, but as for this time of year I can't fault it. It did take a couple of goes getting it to seal right, even with the pins in the righ postion it can still be fitted wrong, the bloke in the shop showed me that if you bend the visor flatter pop the pinlock in then let the visor back into shape it seals well and you can hear air being expelled. :)

I'm on the second pinlock insert for my S1. I scratched the first one to buggery trying to 'gently' clean it with a micro fiber cloth.

BEWARE!!!! Pinlock inserts are made of the softest, easiest to scratch material known to man!!!

I clean mine with finger tips and very soapy water then use a hairdryer to dry them about once a month.

But, it's brilliant! I'd never have a helmet without one again. The vision through it is perfect! No 'stars or halos' and no blurred vision.

Just make sure the insert is a tight fit on the back of the visor with the silicone rubber 'lip' tightly sandwiched in between. I've seen someone get it the wrong way round! Remember - it's 'double glazing' technology - there needs to be an air gap between the two.

Bazza......are you the REF Bazza......?
You will know what I mean if its you....
I too have the S1 Pro and I'm pretty miffed with it's pinlock, I have finally managed to get a decent seal after ages of fiddling and adjusting but in really wet weather it does not seem to last long before moisture gets through the seal.

Hi matey.
Yes its me. I like your christmas avatar:thumb.
A bit disapointed with the visor.... the helmet in itself is excellent. Ill have a bit more fiddling to get a better seal, but i have the pins turned right in.... so dont know what else i can do!!!!!!

I'm really sorry to have to do this as you're all gonna think im mentally subnormal ( I ride an 800 GS so that cant be the truth. What the feck is "pinlock"??? i have deduced its something to prevent a visor misting up, though quite how one achieves this is a bleedin mystery to me. I ride my bike in all weathers, day and night too, and am pissed off with the constant misting i suffer from, relieved only by raising the visor and risking having my eyes poked out by stones thrown up by cars lorries, etc. Shitty "Touring" windscreen does not matters help (cant replace the old screen as the tossers at Vines in Guildford threw all the old screws and brackets in the bin 10 minutes after i had left with my new screen fitted (bstrds)(Oh and incidentally had to fit it myself after they said come over and we will fit it for you!!!)

No probs. Its basically a visor insert which makes your visor 'double glazed' which gives you a cushion of air between the two and insulates the cold from the outside getting to the warm air on the inside and causing it to condense on the inside of the visor....... when they work they really are excellent and a great way of making all weather riding enjoyable.

Even though the visor fits in the pinlock pins, there is still plenty of movement up and down. I find I have to straighten the outer visor as much as possible, fit the inner visor, then find the right up/down position for it and this takes the time. A mm too high or too low and its crap and unsealed.
Off to Southport tomorrow Baz to pick my bike up....its had a minor op for an oil leak.

Forgot to say.....
I turned the pins both as far in as possible and the inner visor buckled so its a case of spending ages to get the mid point for maximum seal pressure....but not too much.....tis a bugger.

Cheers mate.
Hope the bike is better and say hello to Jim for me:thumb2

Take care the forcast isnt nice for tomorrow ....typical

Hi all..... fitted pinlocks to my own and my partners helmets............. i was very pleased with the results. The hardest part of fitting was working out how to remove the visors. We went for a spin in the Wicklow mountains and to be honest for a rider that usually rides with the chin guard in the open position I'm very very pleased

Had it in my Tour X for two weeks and she fogs up around the bottom half of the visor within ten minutes:spitfire

Was it properly sealed all the way around when you fitted it? That's probably the most likely explanation for what you're suffering.

A related question; did you find that the pinlock fouls the top rubber seal when opening and closing your visor? I just fitted one to my Tour X3 and at first I thought I'd put the visor back on incorrectly, but it seems that the clearance between the visor and the seal when opening was designed without the pinlock in mind. :nenau
