The engine I found in the UK is a go'er (y)
I have found a man here that will bring me the engine from the UK by the end of June (y)
Trying to organise payment and delivery to UK address.... and he's closed until Monday... (n)

Onwards and upwards.

Had a long chat with the dealer today.
3 options available.

1. Buy an engine of unknown provenance and fit it with zero guarantee. No one is willing to open the engine and send photo's.
2. Repair engine at between 3.5-4k and have the guarantee on the parts :duno
3. Sell the bike to the dealer, minus the re-build costs estimated at 3.5k  and buy their June 2023 790 Adv with 300 kms on the clock, with the KTM guarantee until June 2025 with the option of extending.

I talked to the wife and her answer was...

Hang up your Helmet your days are over?

F).

The wife, she say yes!

Pick up the "new" bike in 2 weeks.
They have to swap some accessories from the old to the new and do its 1st service (included) after I have put 6-700 km's on it. and activate the Quick Shift for €200.
:wave

Has the dealer done any more to asceratin what is up with your engine? I get that for you, the least stress/hassle thing to do is accept their deal but it would always niggle me that they may be fixing it for £500 and making a tidy profit from me.....hope the new bike is all that you seek.

They would not open it further (head off) without me saying I would pay for it and the sourcing of another engine sort of superseded that.
The thought had crossed my mind.
The clatter that it made after it managed crank the engine over was an assault to the ears and after them saying the timing chain is in the right place, it doesn't bode well.
I don't think they will be doing it for €500, even if its just the apprentice doing it.

As you say, the stress free option and I will be riding again in 2 weeks and not 2 months and maybe more because France shuts down for all of August.

I'm not sure which part of 'buy a Honda' you don't get :nenau
Not this one IMG_2682.jpeg

Amazed that wheel is still turning, just a matter of time before the inaugural flight
“Honda the power of dreams” :D

No a nice way to describe your wife as IT 😳😂
Years ago, there was a thread in the 1200 section (I think - I didn't really notice the forum section) where various bods had attached a small top-box.
Someone posted "hands up all those that have mounted a small box"
My reply of "My wife is five foot fuck-all, does that count?" was the last post in the thread :D
