It seems my motor is not well :tears 2019 790 Adv.
Last Friday I was out for a ride and it seemed really noisy.
Next day, pressed the starter and loads of clacking and then nothing apart from a click from the starter.
Battery from 2019 so ordered a new one. LiFePO4.
Arrived today. Ain't they light! Fitted.
It turned it over with a bit of a struggle and started, sort of. Lots of noise. Kill-switch, quick!
Smoke coming from the air intake tubes :blast

Loaded onto the trailer to take to the dealer on Tuesday (not open Mondays 'cos they open Saturdays).

I feel its going to be expensive :tears

Wonder if it’s dropped a valve. Symptoms as described would indicate something of that nature. Best of luck, hope you get it sorted without breaking the bank.

Possible, but I hadn't noticed any lack of power.
It was making a sort of tick/clack, the sort of noise you get from a blowing manifold gasket, but could find nothing.
Its only done 13500 kms. I bought it with 6k on it and I have changed the oil 3 times.
Nothing to see in the filter or screens or plug magnet.
I'm thinking cam chain tensioner and the chain having jumped a tooth or two. Can they really get that loose :nenau

Ouch, hope you get it sorted for not to many shillings.

13500km it would appear you are bang in the target parameters to go wrong

Still time enough then :blast o_O
I was genuinely was looking into a swap to 890S 2023 model or a Nordon 901 but my piss would be boiling a £2.5 K repair bill.
I cannot comprehend how this could possibly happen a engine in this day and at that mileage with super super engine oils,
Maybe they are made of chocolate?
KTM response to an industry wide know problem ,absolutely diabolical? Maybe that’s why the 890 and 901 are cheap on 2nd hand market .

Maybe?

Exciting bikes ..............but kinda makes you not want the 'sting in the tail' of a repair bill

The early 790's came out of Austria. I assume they buy in the parts from wherever so it can only be porous quality control by either the manufacturer of the parts or KTM.
