any advice out there on sweetening up a bit of pitting on fork lowers and front of the lump? generally like to keep my bikes clean and tidy and theres a few places letting down my new toy so any advice would be much appreciated.

Greetings and welcome. Now you are not giving too much away but I am hazarding a guess that you have an F650 as they disolve is our climate. I know my girlfriends one is only a few years old and the corrosion is terrible.

Rub down affected area and spray or paint with hammerite silver smooth as I hear this is a good match and does the job quite well.

Was down your neck of the woods a few weeks back and stayed in the 'Pub on the prom' Just passing on the way to work.

pub on the prom!

know it well, gimme a shout next time you have a wee thirst around there. sorry should have said what bike was. its a 1150 with load of adventure goodies on it that just being let down a bit by a few parts that dont seem to have stood up as well to our weather . dont wont to take it to pieces and off the road as use it most days but any tips or products you know of that will improve her i would be most grateful :)

And as if by magic the thread has been moved to it's rightfull spot. I am sure a fellow 1150 owner will be along soon enough with some 'tips of the trade' as they say.

Enjoy the bike. Next time I am passing through I wont have much time as I will be heading directly to the 'Pub on the plane' and home :)

remove the front cover and have it powder coated , you will however have to replace the front shaft oil seal , pretty easy and costs about £8-12 from motorworks , the forks , i'd strip the lowers off and do the ends of them with a wire brush in a 4 inch angle grinder , heat them with a heat gun prior to and during painting with spray paint , this makes the paint flash off quicker , leaving smoother results . thats how i did mine earlier this year , the bike looks mint now :thumb2:thumb2 im afraid that to do it right you WILL have to put the bike off the road for a week or so ...hope this helps

yea helps much!

many thanks, think will wait till the snow here and take your advice. cheers:

Hammerite smooth silver paint. Warm up the paint and the surfaces to be sprayed and it's a perfect match to the bmw finish.
