Howyis,

Son's Punto has a crack (well, two cracks) in the back bumper. Before I start mashing at it with the soldering iron and some cable ties, does anyone know a more scientific way to fix it (main thing is to make it solid enough to pass NCT). ?

Bin

Hi I should be able to find a bumber for a punto no problem, phone me tonight or early tomorrow at 087 276 4471

allegedly....
Here is what you need.

- Lego-thingies, not Duplo.
- Acetone
- Clean glassjar
- Rubbergloves
- Teaspoon

Here is what you do

1. Put on the rubbergloves
2. Clean the plastic with acetone
3. Pour a bit of acetone in the glassjar
4. Add legos according to the severity of the damage.
5. When the Lego has melted to a caramel-like substance, it is applied to the cracked area with the teaspoon
6. When dry it, it can be sanded down to give an even surface.

If you need a repairstick for the paint, bring the plastic to your local pharmacy and ask for a matching colour in nail polish, the lacquer is good and the brush comes with the polish.
........
but this info came offa Guzzi forum - so it could merely be the effects of extreme vibration affecting the brain of the rider. :augie

Hi GTF, tks but it is not mashed, just has two cracks so I won't change it (yet)....

Hi Jockser, is that still how you spend the evenings?

Hi Og, Jaysus, where do you get them? Sniff, sniff! Far out!

:clap:clap:clapOutstanding. :clap:clap:clap

I'm tempted to go out and break my beloved's car bumper just to give this a try. Beloved has just told me otherwise.

oh shiet :blast

now i got this vision of a bunch of Tossers,
roaming the shopping centres,
with a bag of lego, a mixing bowl - going into the chemists looking for nail varnish remover tomorrow....

then sniffing about the car park...

"i was looking for cracked bumpers officer!"

yeeeeah.

the defence at trial;

"i was committing a random act of kindness yer honour"

yeeeah.
right.

:D

Og,
You could set up a little stall thing outside the NCT place, as a contribution to fightin' the recession, what a trip, maaan!!!

Pannel beater I know uses a fine steel mesh (Kitchen sieve :thumb) and melts the mesh into the back of the bumper......Then small slivers can be cut from unseen parts of the same bumper (same plastic type and colour:thumb)and used as a filler or reinforcement when melted into the crack .

(PS hav'nt tried this myself but would like to see the finished job if you decide to try it, detailed photos before and after of course)

I have 2 problems with this post..
1) In Padge land the use of the word legos as the plural of Lego is punishable by castration..
2) Wouldn't the value of the Lego pieces exceed the value of a Punto?

as it was originally posted in Danish - i think we did well to get it to make any sense at all. :D

hmm... :mmmm
you can take lego apart and put it back together to make many other things / no matter how many times you put a punto back together you still get a punto.
Legos worth more

oh f'eck off J'Ockser :P

while i am a prissy pedant on the written word - i've never got the hang of them apostrophe things. :blush
