I know there are quite a few blogs around regarding the above which I have used in an attempt to resolve the issue - unscucessfully.

I have and 05 GS, and have now tried the Powerbronze Flip screen and Nippy Normans Super High Wide Screen in an attempt to cure the wind noise from the GS.

I'm 5'10, ride with the seat in a low position and have an AGV Ti-Tech helmet, 35 miles each way up & down the M11 everyday. Whilst I initially found the screens to be an improvement, I then began suffering with what I can only describe as turbulence from the high screens flexing in the wind, causing a revurberating sound on the helmet, which caused more discomfort than the wind noise alone.

Can anyone suggest anything else?

Thanks....

I'm 5'10 and can ride all day using the GSA screen (on my GSA) with the touratech screen extender.

Perfect combination IMHO.

Thanks Toad.

GSA screen is very dear, just been reading the Givi Airflow forum. Looks like it could be an option, but nothing definitive!

Sounds like BMW got it right with the GSA at least......

Cheers

I have the wonderlik ego screen taller and wider that adventure screen with NN side thingies

Works for me

I have a 2010 GS to which I have had fitted a GSA screen and winglets. At 6' 1" this is a perfect combo.....esp as i like riding with my system 6 helmet "open"....no noise, no turbulence and no flies/insects in my face.:beerjug:

5'9", lowest seat setting, Givi Airflow + tobinators, screen laid back as far as poss, top slidey bit extended by a third. A vast improvement but not perfect, maybe you'll need the little tank-mounted wind deflectors too? Basically the bike's got the aerodynamic qualities of a brick with further aerodynamically unfriendly bits stuck on to it. I'm still frustrated, I keep experimenting with positions but it's never quite right or at least it'll be fine 90% of the time and then you get a day when it's slightly crap again. I do stress though, this is when 'making progress', sub 65mph it's fine. I liked the Ergo screen too but I'm going to sell it.

Same here, but I don't have the screen extender, get a test ride on a GSA and see if you have the same probelms, that way you might save some money experimenting with different screens.

Firstly AGV Ti-Techs are bad helmets for the GS. They're noisy anyway, but on a sportsbike (for which they're generally designed for) they're no so bad due to the riding position, and position in relation to the screen. Wear one of these helmets on a GS or GSA and they're stupidly noisy, as I found out myself. I changed to the Shoei XR1100 which is a big improvement, although you will still get quite a bit of noise compared to other bikes. I did try the Schuberth C3 which was eerily quiet, but I found the ratchet chin strap uncomfortable.

Next I would recommend a Touratech or Wunderlich screen extender/spoiler. I have the GSA, but I'm 6'4" and have the seat on the high setting and so still experienced considerable noise and buffeting. The spoilers make a big difference. I still get some wind noise, but nowhere near as much as before, I can now still hear the engine easily at 70mph. On sn open road there is very little buffeting, unless there's a cross wind. You will never avoid buffeting following traffic, especially on the motorway.

Some find tobinators help, I personally didn't on my GS and so haven't tried them on my GSA. Finally, and probably the most essential part is some good ear plugs FITTED CORRECTLY. I'm always amazed how many people can't use earplugs properly

I've done the NN screen extender torbinators and winglets which was a huge improvement on the standard screen, which I too had big problems with, both with noise and turbulence. I have now removed std screen and extender and fitted the Givi 330AF which is better still and I believe as good as you'll get. I'm just over 6' with seat set high. Best money i have spent:thumb And I've spent quite a bit:blast

:

I had a Ti-Tech and found it fairly quiet on the GS. Then I bought a XR1100, and found that noiser than the Ti-Tech. But then I fitted a Givi 330 screen, now silence and no - or virtualy no - buffetting or wind noise at high speeds. I'm 6ft and have the seat on high.

As people have already said EAR PLUGS, do you use them??

Just changed from a GS to a GSA, I'm same height as you, I use a low seat, the difference between screens is amazing, now I can ride mostly with my visor up.
I really noticed the change when my loan bike for a service was the GS.

It may be more money, but you could end up with another screen that's still not good.

I also use either a schuberth C2 or a Arai x3

Hehehe...careful OP. You might nip out to buy a GSA screen and end up with the complete bike. It seems to happen quite a lot to UKGSERs :thumb

Try this

The more you raise the oe screen the more vertical you make it and therefore the niosier it will be.

Instead of raising the screen try lowering it so that your head is in more of the air streem. This will put your helmet into clean air which generaly gives a much quieter ride.

It's always worth a few fettling sessions before paying out on another possible no hoper.

I actually have an ADV screen without the deflecters fitted to my 05 1200. I too am about 5'10" and usually ware an Arai of some sort (I have more than one to choose from) and don't get too much noise IMO. However I have never gotten on with ear plugs, so I'm probbably so deaf I miss the stuff you guys complaing about :nenau

Val.

But not when you're only little. The only thing that has worked for me on any of my GSs is to have the screen as near vertical as possible. I sit in a quiet, calm 'bubble' at a speed of anything up to 1.3 leptons.

5'6" at best; short, fat tosser. Seat in lowest position (fairly obviously :) ).

How strange, AGV's are known to be noisy. And they are best suited to sportsbikes as I said. I've gone back to my Ti-Tech on a couple of occasions but can't cope with the noise in comparison to the Shoei :nenau

Schuberth are definatelty the way to go for a quiet lid, if only they did double D fasteners instead of those god awful ratchet fasteners  It baffles me why they don't make them with both, as surely there's a lot of people who prefer the Double D fasteners? :nenau
